In the words of Sylvia Plath, not fucking again. But I share because I am Michael and I am good.

Thanks for the 'heads up', Michael.

I'll buy one.
I'm probably in the minority, but I like Morley. He's an interesting chap.

Used to like Morley’s writing and many years ago I thoroughly enjoyed his book ‘Nothing’. I got about half way through his ‘The North’ book a couple years back but haven’t picked it up and finished it since. Can I stomach another one? Tough one as it’s about the late great Tony Wilson so may give it a go.

Oh and I read Lindsay Reade’s book about Tony a few years ago, definitely recommend that one.

Agreed. One of the best Joy Division books I’ve read. Along with the also excellent Jon Savage one from 2-3 years back.

Edit. Oops. I thought you meant the ‘Torn Apart’ one about Ian (co-written by Mick Middles). My bad. I need to read stuff more carefully.

I haven’t read the Tony one yet, but do have a copy.

I’ll check it out on your suggestion, F.

Thanks for the heads up, as the two penissed man said to the prostitute.
The best wank for me is the Brown Fowl doc. Morely's a dick head and Tony was a deluded twat.
Manchester? Manchester was Manchester and to me, that meant Manchester. And I'm in Manchester and I'm on the telly so I'm like Hey, let's put Manchester on the telly, right? And that means Manchester and Manchester is on
the telly. Gonna shoot me? First rule of telly: Don't shoot the presenter. Never shoot the presenter. Just put Manchester on the telly, right? This is... Manchester. Manchester on the telly. Gonna shoot me? Never shoot the presenter. It's Manchester.

If you like Morley’s style I recommend his 2002 book ‘Nothing’. A kind of meditation on life, upbringing, people and their ways , grief and the death by suicide of his father. Sounds grim I know but trust me, it’s a good read.Very heavy in places but balanced out with hilarious observations and it cuts to the chase of the ups and downs and absurdities of existence.

Thanks for the recommendation, Fotz.
I have meant to check that book out, but never got around to it.
I think I'll get a copy.

only 11 years too late.

david nolan's book's a more straighforward read.

paul morley's take on wilson:
"me,me,me,me,me, oh yeah , and Tony"

Anyone bought/read the Morley Wilson book? Had a skim in Waterstones last week and not sure if I want to delve back into the murky world of Factory again. Especially when there is hefty quotes from Richard & Judy.

Maybe I'll wait until it's translated in Latin.

Always bores the crap out of me. NOStory is an object lesson in how not to make docs. And no, it wasn't an elaorate hax. This dick's for wreal.
I know I've written this before, but while Wings aren't everyone's favourite, Wingspan is how to do it: No BS, no interviews with someone vaguely connected, no vids we've seen a billion times, but an honest, interesting interview with The Man Himself going through each album alongside rare footage. I actually like Wings and I'm not ashamed to say it as this is a forum on which Mr Orange says he likes Revenge. They managed a huge splew of hits including the best-selling single ever until Band Aid (which doesn't count cos people bought it for the cause not the song), the gigs were epic (check Wings Across America) and Band On The Run is one of the finest solo Beatle LPs, up there with All Thighs Must Pass and Imagine. That's what the man said. Won't you listen to what the man said?
