Where does Bernard stand, or rank all time amongst English musicians. Now I am biased as the guy is my hero, but thinking about longevity, influence, relevance etc etc, then I actually think he is possibly only second to Lennon&McCartney, and they are only ahead due to the world wide fascination with the 'fab four'. Members of the Stones have not been relevant for 40+ years, Weller is cool but nothing earth shattering for a while, was Bowie doing what Bernard when he was nearly 60, I don't think so and The Who have been on a greatest hits tour for over 30 years. Obviously the late great Mr Curtis is a massive influence, but Bernard was a big part of Joy Division, and is still at it today. Basically, seeing as his nearly 60 I think his peers should honour the man, I know I will be getting slaughtered on his birthday

Everyone and everything else seems less interesting after hearing New Order. The stars fade , and write fewer and fewer interesting songs . Stars and superstars come and go , but Bernard is a constant, the only person in music that does not disappoint, that is always reliable for great songs and it has been noticeable for decades . Of course he is the best , no one else comes close |

He is a Living LEGEND, made so much good music that it is not even funny, the man with the GOLDEN voice, New Order is an amazing band and the soundtrack to my life. |

I know I am also biased but keepitcoming it bang on the money for me.
There's plenty of great talent out there but nobody comes close to Barney in my book.
He wrote the soundtrack to my life.

Life with NO is a blast. I would go back to school if New Order was taught |

Heroes can only be personal so of course New Order are mine, not just Bernard, New Order are a band, none of them are as good without the others. Even though no Hooky on the new and fantastic album there is still Steve and Gillian from the original lineup with help from Phil and Tom of course.
My heroes legends music wise are Bernard Steve, Gillian Hooky, Mad Mike from Underground resistance and the Reid brothers from the Mary Chain.
The Beatles, although an obvious massive influence on popular music mean nothing to me
