EDIT: just to clarify, the cover version is not me. While I make music, I haven't uploaded any online. I just stumbled across it and thought it was one of the best I've heard.

The first time I heard True Faith was not long after Substance came out. It was the start of my senior year, and I'd often skip out during lunch with my friends Hollis and Ashley in Ash's convertible VW. We were already big New Order fans, but Substance was my first exposure to a lot of the UK singles. I'd only discovered "college rock" about a year or two prior - New Order, Depeche Mode, The Cure, and The Smiths. I remember being really excited that fall when True Faith entered the American Top 40, and I would hear it on the radio in the movie theater where I worked.

Anyway, I have a collection of vintage synths, and just went down a rabbit hole on YouTube watching/listening to old tech in action. Enter the Voyetra 8. I'd seen Gillian twisting the nobs on one in the Pumped Full Of Drugs video (which I could rent on VHS from my local indie record shop), but didn't realize how much it defined New Order's sound.

I think this is the best straightforward cover of a New Order song I've ever heard, to the point that it sent a chill up my back like I was hearing it for the first time. A few of the chords are wrong, but this is damn near perfect.

New Order - True Faith (Instrumental Cover)

I know some of you will grouse "what's the point?" but working out a cover of a song you already know is a great way to learn new (to you) tech or software...and if the end result is this good, why not upload it?
