I went to this gig. No idea what ever happened to my ticket stub. The gig is famous for the fact the bar was closed at the NEC, it was Easter Sunday which may have explained there being no bar open.Or the NEC simply being miserable bastards. We saw We've Got A Fuzzbox And We're Gonna Use It , hanging around pre gig.Touched By The Hand Of God was a highlight of the night if i recall

I too was at this and the SECC the previous night. The bar was closed, I remember a mate asking 'Two pints of lager please', barman ' we've only got Orange Juice ' , mate 'Orange Juice, that's like having Junior Disprin at a Hawkwind gig' - Quality |

Wasn't Touched live debut Woolwich Coronet April 87? Barrowlands gig was in June that year, no? I received the bootleg tape of the Woolwich April 87 gig later that month. Seem to recall my first impression of the song from that bootleg was that bassline was a straight rip off of Blondie, Heart Of Glass! And a mate also pointed out to me in a nightclub in Leeds at some point in the late 80s while Let The Music Play by Shannon was on that NO had also ripped off the keyboard melody from that tune for Touched By The Hand Of God.It was so obvious yet i'd never made the connection Edited by user 06 May 2013 10:22:16(UTC)

Keep trying! First UK gig was Brixton Academy, though it never made the Academy DVD. Had been played in the Far East(?) before that though - it's bound to be on the song browser here.

The NEC was my first gig, I remember travelling down from manchester in the afternoon, having been in the moston hotel from early doors,
The lights for the whole show were great and the mondays were ok from memory

I remember the Mondays were out of their faces. Some bloke got onto the stage during the Mandays set and Bez shoved them back into the crowd without missing a step of his mad dance routine. Not a great gig.

He was in jail (I think?) at the time? Or on a police curfew or something? Edited by user 07 May 2013 13:33:15(UTC)

Great NO performance, thought they'd really found themselves with the Technique songs in a live setting. Remember Mr Disco and Vanishing Point being particularly ace.
Mondays was ahem interesting. They arrived very late for the gig and what we saw was a live soundcheck rather than a gig! Recorded it, they did bits of seven songs but was mostly one twos from SWR, who sat on the drum riser in his blue kagoule throughout. Was a Bez substitute too due to incarceration. |
