This was meant to be tomorrow. I was rather hoping that Sky Arts would record it, and it would eventually make it's way on to youtube, for those of us who don't have Sky. Cold feet Barney?

If you click the link at the bottom of my original post, the Hay people don't seem too convinced by the "touring schedule" excuse. I guess they're a bit cheesed off with him.

That's what made it so weird in the first place. Yeah, that's what I saw originally as well but Welshcake was going and said it was just on the old book. I think someone saw the title 'Sumner on Sumner' and put 2+2 together and got 19, assuming it was a new book. Oh, unless he's starting up a new business venture with a namesake and the 'and' bit was just misheard? - http://www.sumnerandsumner.com/

I don't know the band personally but I always think that Bernard is the least likely member to write an autobiography. So I never believed it. Besides, the title sounds fake. Sumner on Sumner? Edited by user 08 June 2012 07:54:23(UTC)

i thought he might have changed his mind about writing an autobiography after the Nolan book seeing as he didn't entirely agree with all of it as can be seen from his comments in the book. anyone can change their mind. anyway he does seems to have changed his mind about appearing at Hay for whatever reason - crap weather, lack of sales, (literary audience too far flung maybe), no book to sell afterall... I thought the usual thing at book festivals is to discuss a book which is about to come out, sell advance copies and do a book signing? then again he may have changed his mind yet again and decided not to write it, who knows where Barney is concerned?

Maybe some publicity management (band? festival? book deal if he even has one yet?) made a promise that Bernard didn't ever agree with in the first place. Doesn't sound like an event where he would be comfortable. Maybe Bernard claimed he was starting a book at some point, but never actually started writing anything. Touring "fatigue" is not an excuse, New Order has it pretty easy compared to most. If he doesn't like to travel, why did he bring NO back to tour? Barney has to rest his vocal chords like bJORK or Celine Dion? Edited by user 09 June 2012 06:42:28(UTC)

Wouldn't think he'd embark on a 50-gig tour spanning from New Zealand to Miami to Brazil to all over Europe and then skip a chat at a festival a few hours' drive from home...and it would be odd to discuss a book released in '07. Weird story from start to finish.
