Phil's tweeted this picture. I thought it was worth sharing here. Pretty cool. You can imagine this picture in motion. Steve giving ideas and them previewing sounds. Looks like they're still following the practice from the early days where Bernard would be on the computer and the rest of the band would wait for him to program everything, which I found amusing.

It also looks like they need a new chair, look at the blue chair on the left of steve , it is torn apart at the edges, lol. I am very glad that they are making new music and we will get to hear it in the coming year. |

Yep, you'd have thought all those takings from the recent gigs could have paid for a new chair Seriously, this is great to see. A real buzz to know there is some fresh material on the horizon. Edited by user 23 May 2013 13:03:05(UTC)

white rackmount synth above minimoog: looks like a pair of Oberheim SEM (synthesizer expander modules) with a kind of master controller as the tiny black bit with knobs on above. this is quite rare, only found one image of it in that configuration so far, the poster incorrectly calls it an OB8 in a rack. http://www.futureproduce...rack-mount-synth-118103/

Minimoog is rad. I wish I had one. I also wish I could see the modular synth racks above the Minimoog more clearly. I would also love to look at that mixing desk behind the Rolands in the center. To right of Bernard on corner of desk is Native Instruments Maschine MK1. Edited by user 23 May 2013 22:34:43(UTC)

I thought it was cubase myself though there is very little difference in all of them really, i prefer ableton for the electronic music but cubase and logic are better all rounders.

The benefits of having your own studio and knowing what your doing. Most of the time its a matter of sitting and waiting until the notes are sequenced right, that the effects from all the different tracks are not consuming each other and there is nothing the rest can do until its done and dusted. I prefer to do that sort of thing myself to be honest but if you have someone like steve to help it would be different probably. Edited by user 24 May 2013 03:51:24(UTC)

Steve could be just sitting and waiting... or he could be, you know, listening and thinking.
Couldn't name any of the tech, but I'm intrigued by that stuff on the left: is that an ancient black and white TV? Does Steve watch his old Patrick Troughton Dr Who DVDs on that for the full effect? And what's that booklet lying open? Lyrics? Or (more likely) instructions on how to operate the gizmos?
Ah. Ace pic. Can't wait to hear it.

As I am a fan of the more Electro New Order, seeing this photo is really thrilling for me. As has been pointed out, they've got the Roland synths that Phil and Gillian play live rack mounted, plus loads of other gear...
This is exciting because its confirmation that New Order are in fact working on new material. Thrilling, really.
I hope New Order sign with DFA here in the US. Would be such a perfect fit for them.
I'm going to DFA's 12th Anniversary Party in Brooklyn Saturday night...going to dance and get bombed out of my brains, Hahaha.

Hopefully in term's of the guitar side they will be able to come up with songs such as Everyone Everywhere, strong guitar tracks with more conventional bass playing.

The black and white tv in the corner is the c.c.tv monitor.
Looking at the screen that bernard is working on, its looks to me to be either vocals or live instruments because when the different tracks are in rows one below the other it usually suggests overdubbing of some description. Could be completely wrong of course.Im happy to see new material anyway.

Yeah. But we all know that Stephen has his cctv monitor hooked up to a DVD player spinning nothing but Pat Troughton. They're going for a full-on radiophonic vibe this time around.

Has anyone got a picture that was published in NME around May 2001 a few months before Get Ready came out of New Order in the studio working on that album? I recall seeing it but have never seen it again since. Barney was in the picture and there was some equipment with the name "Pod" or something

I got a question: with all these electronics, why did they write many "rock songs" in the last years?Edited by user 25 May 2013 04:51:59(UTC)
