We stayed at Cranage Hall last summer for Weller (which was cancelled). It's a lovely hotel, just a few miles away. Alderley Edge is better for bars but I'm going in early so it doesn't really matter. I noticed a caravan park on the map and thought an 8 berth could be fun, but it's a private park.

They're not bad, although I like the older tracks better. The keys on the latest song are the best part but the song itself is enh.

New Order live at an observatory is a dream this geek didn't realize she could have. Throw in a tank of hammerheads as an opening act and I'll fly over.

Made up with this, family outing got tickets for the wife and daughter, looks an interesting day. Maybe one electronic track?

Been waiting off a new order gig I can take my daughter to (6 years old) so this is perfect.

I'm not going to this one but for those who are, you may (or may not) be interested to know that these guys are about to be added to the bill. That's what J Willgoose Esq. from the band said last week on Xfm anyway.

Maybe their logo helped get them the gig.
...And yes this does sound a bit like The Staunton Lick by Lemon Jelly imo.

New Order were on the music news bit on Radcliffe & Maconie on 6Music this afternoon talking about the Jodrell Bank gig. They also chatted about recording new stuff. They have "15 or 16 ideas" they are hoping to form into songs and start releasing as a series of 4 or 5 EPs, the first hopefully by "the end of this year or early next year". Go to 50 mins 30 secs to listen

That's where we're staying. We're booking on this though - £12 return and at least we know it will turn up.

http://www.biggreencoach...view/newordercoachtravel

You can get it from the station directly opposite the hotel. Sets off at 2pm though and we don't check in until 3, but as we're travelling light it's not a problem.

Competition: might be of interest to those living nearby.
Not sure about the bit where they say "Jodrell Transmission would like to access your public profile, friend list and email address."
I guess people who share stuff on facebook aren't too concerned about privacy.

I have 3 spare tickets to sell for today's gig at Jodrell Bank due to being let down by a friend. I would take £30 a ticket and can meet near the venue. Anyone interested??

Never posted before, tending to keep my obsession private.

I haven't seen New Order live since NEC '89 and I'm still smiling.

Don't envy anyone stepping into Hooky's bass rig. Was it nerves? Is that why I found him soulless and shambolic? I'm sure there's many other bassists on this forum that can play the tunes and I don't know how they'd or I'd feel being offered that gig (probably find a thread somewhere) but if your going for it then go for it when it counts.

Is shambolic an ironic complaint when I remember some gigs?

My partner who's never seen them and was reluctant to go is still buzzing.

As Barney said about the day "it could have been shit".

How was it for you?

What do you mean by shambolic? It's the last word I'd use to describe Tom Chapman's performances with New Order, especially on Sunday.

I thought he played a blinder.
