Yeah i heard this earlier today. Moby was Skyping from poolside, L.A., man, to Radcliffe & Maconie on 6Music. He was saying ( as usual) how inspiring New Order were to him blah blah blah. But yeah anyway, this possibly the most uplifting song i've heard today . Found myself wishing the song went on a bit longer.Maybe a couple of minutes longer actually.

I liked the video .Wayne Coynne and Moby looking very smart in their Mariachi outfits and the final scenes with the beautiful L.A. people on the rooftop sunset. Also thought the roller skating ghosts bit went really well with the delightful guitar solo bit starting at 1.58.

A lad i used to work with told me a bizarre tale some years back that he shared magic mushrooms with Wayne Coynne and friends in some woods near Barby in the Northamptonshire countryside very near to where i live ( i live in Warwickshire but near the Northamptonshire border). Always puzzled me what on earth Wayne Coynne would be doing in Northamptonshire but the lad who told me the story was always sound and certainly not one for making up bullshit stories

I reckon it's a video/radio edit. The album is out next month so there may be a longer version on there. You'll probably be tired of it by then though...

It kind of feels like the natural successor to that Elbow song. A Day Like This was it called? That kind of big inspiring anthem thing going on. Though it needs to go on a bit longer.

Patty Mk II?

They've worked with Mr Morris, and it looks like they've been watching the R&R vid and maybe they liked the flip-book imagery from BM'88.

I tried to win tix to tonight's gig, but no joy. I did get Vampire Weekend and Primal Scream though, so I guess I can't complain.
I have some trouble with the video when watching these itunes gigs. The audio is fine but visuals tend to stick/lag.
I don't have problems with youtube or vimeo (high def) or is-it-legal football sites, just the itunes gigs. And my pc ain't that old (windows 7) or that full of stuff. So it's annoying me a bit.

Gosh i'd long forgotten this song but then i haven't watched Blue Velvet for about 20 years. The song soundtracks two or three scenes in the film but perhaps most intensely right at the end when the Robin appears on the window sill, confirming Sandy's dream in which Robins represent hope for humanity.

With nothing better to do today i "acquired" Goldfrapp's new album. Didn't do much for me on first listen. Chucked it over to my phone and decided as it was such a beautiful late September afternoon i'd go out for a walk and listen to it on my headphones to see if it was any better on second listen. I enjoyed the walk immensely. It was late afternoon 4pm - 6pm and i chose the really posh area of town, the streets around Rugby School and stuff. A truly beautiful late afternoon in September it were. But no, i'm just not feeling it. It's no Seventh Tree masterpiece, put it that way. I'm not angry, i'm just disappointed, as Jeremy Hardy is wont to say. He said that recently on Lamacq's roundtable about some artist's new song and it was funny as fuck the way he said it

So, you know when a song becomes really well known, it's quite hard to re-imagine it in a different way. I've heard professional musicians say this too, and even remixers. Well the next time you want inspiration for an original cover version, just look to Yoko Ono.

best tv theme EVER. bar none. heart-stopping. makes my ribs fit to burst, just as it did all those years ago. remember having to WAIT A WEEK for your favourite programme, and then the unbearable excitement of the new episode starting?!

i've been listening to the new mazzy star album which is frankly wonderful. also this, which is a lovely companion piece, and made for evenings like these.

It struck me how long the opening titles to Twin Peaks went on for , listening again. These days most shows these days jump straight into the action. Something's been lost there

I remember buying the Julee Cruise version on 7" with the instrumental on the B side.

And then there was this:

i can't see those vids at all - youtube is blocked at work so there are just blank white boxes where they should be. (which is not unattractive in its own way, i suppose.)

but i thought this might be of interest. i keep sneaking a peek at it. still have my vinyl copy of the original album - every track of which is splendid, although the others don't quite make me quiver like the main theme.

There's a soundtrack album for Eraserhead? God , wouldn't that consist of just industrial factory noise drone, loud gas radiators and malformed babies crying ?
