Ok, continuing after a 2 year break from talking about it: ================= http://www.neworderonlin...List.aspx?ThreadID=49371Basically, i got the vinyl 2xlp version of what the cassette compilation was. this is a bootleg though: ========================= http://www.discogs.com/V...ampaigns/release/2878180i finally got around to listening to it. although, it might have been sourced from a cassette, the vinyl version is actually pretty decent. i'll clean up a little bit of noise from it, and post it for those interested.

Vaguely remember having this on a cassette sometime in the 80s . Did the cassette come free with an edition of Record Mirror around 1986 or something ? My memory is not what it was . I do have an MP3 of it I downloaded from Soulseek or something a few years ago. God knows whatever happened to the cassette I had with it on.

I've prob got that completely wrong but I'm sure there was an 80s music magazine connection to the cassette. Or maybe I did just simply luck upon buying the cassette in its plastic cover in a local record shop

I no longer have it, but it was on a cassette sold with a British magazine (all enclosed in a plastic bag). Sold before Low-life was released in 1985, so the cassette was basically a promo teaser for the new album. The magazine had a featured article/ interview about New Order.

The Discreet Campaigns cassette was made by Dec Hickey , the great tape audio archivest (he went to practically every early New order gig he could)If he didn't go , he had a circle of friends who would get him a live copy of the gig....he printed his wonderful book "From heaven to heaven" last year and it is an amazing early insight into the group. http://www.cerysmaticfac...rom_heaven_to_heaven.phphere is the tracklisting http://www.discogs.com/V...Campaigns/release/385745I cannot remember the magazine it came with or if it actually did,I vaguely remember seeing that only a small amount of copies of this cassette were made...I got mine from Selectadisc in Nottingham when it was released. It was a labour of love for Dec as it had recordings of bands from his club that he ran in Bedford, along with bands that had played there and various groups Rob Gretton could persuade to provide songs. I still have my cassette in great condition along with the booklet and plastic cover....if anyone wants to buy it...make a reasonable offer and I may consider it? I have tried to put a photo of the cassette up here but cannot find the link |

From memory, this surfaced late 84, six months before Low Life was released but after we'd been hearing Sunrise (or Custer's Last Stand as it seemed to be called) for a while (since late June 84). |

Something not quite right with yours, Neg. The tape should be in a box with an inlay:
