not everyone has or uses itunes.
i sure haven't seen any of the
many promo mixes out there,
or am i missing something?

what about the vinyl only tracks?
the compilation only ones?

most of these tracks are sourced
from cd, so not a lot of work
needs to be done to them.

this is a private project,
if you're not interested.
that's your prerogative.

plenty of people have expressed
interest in it. just like they
did with the 'interational 2' - 4cd set.
quite a few appreciated that also.

maybe the band will come out with
something official someday.

we can only hope.

where exactly are we supposed to find these?

where are you looking?????
i can't check itunes JAPAN, but i doubt it has very much either.

i checked itunes USA:
==========================

Series 1
======================
1 regret - 4 out 7 mixes
2 ruined in a day - 1 out 11 mixes, 0 out of 2 b-sides
3 world - 1 out of 11 mixes
4 spooky - 8 out of 9 mixes

Series 2
======================
5 true faith 94 - 0 out of 9 mixes
6 1963-94 - 0 out of 7 mixes
7 lets go - 0 out of 4 mixes
(salvation tracks)

Series 3
======================
8 blue monday 95 - 0 out of 12 mixes
9 video 586 - 0 out of 4
brutal - missing
10 true faith 2001 - 0 out of 9 mixes

Series 4
======================
11 crystal part 1 - 1 out of 13, missing 5 b-sides
12 crystal part 2 - 60 mph - 0 out of 4, missing b-side
13 someone like you - 0 out 8 mixes
14 here to stay - 1 out of 4, missing b-side
world in motion 2002 missing
15 confusion 2002 - 0 out of 12 mixes

Series 5
======================
16 krafty - 7 out of 13 mixes
17 jetstream - 8 out of 13 mixes
18 waiting for the sirens call - 0 out of 10 mixes
19 guilt is a useless emotion - 5 out of 13 mixes
hellbent - has it
========================

so basically, you can only find 36 out of 180-200 tracks..

thats about 20%.

what a joke.

amazon is a lot worse, only has a few more mixes for 'guilt is a useless emotion', thats its.

and buying 20-25 singles off ebay, is way too much time and effort for most people.

itunes UK is the worst of all, only has the 'spooky' single and best of mixes.

this project is a lot easier to deal with, and have everything conveniently located.

I personally do like remixes, but I have no desire to collect every remix (official or unofficial) that's ever been made.
If it's not available digitally, I suppose some might look at auction sites (Ebay etc) or something to find what they want.
I know there's a Buy/Trade/Sell section both here and on neworderweb, so fans who have a lot of things can trade or sell some items they want.

no one's forcing anyone to listen or get all of these.

i just think its disingenous to say, 'oh, they are available online',
when in fact, the vast majority aren't.

if people had an option to get them, they would, but they can't.

i've already mentioned it's too inconvenient to find 20-25 singles
individually on ebay, amazon.

also, you never answered my question, what about all the promo
mixes, vinyl, and compilation tracks?

there are a lot of b-sides in there too. it's not just mixes.

how are you supposed to buy or find things that were limited,
waiting for the sirens call (tribute mix) 10" only had 30 copies.

some of the promo's are completely out of print.

this is just a fun project for fans of new order.

just like the original recycle project, which now
seems to have had a lot more of it's tracks
officially released. but still a lot more that
haven't been.

if you don't want to hear the majority of their work, i guess
we can always go back to talking about ian curtis's table?

too me, the whole point of new order, is their music, good and bad.

perhaps you don't think of them as a music band? which is odd,
since you wanted to see their music book?

I do have all albums except Movement, and I do love their music. I don't consider myself a collector, though. I simply think the project is pointless, and a bit risky. And I don't think anybody should think I'm less of a fan, just because I'm not interested in this project.

so we're ending enrollment for the project.

those that joined, will continue to get updates,
and what's posted here will be match it.

well thank you for your thoughts. although quite a few

They do, it just requires a bit of effort, how did other fans come to acquire them? I think while the original Recycle was beautifully executed and important one of the downsides was it created a side-effect of automatic entitlement with some people. I believe £50 Note commented on that himself at one point when some people almost demanded lossless copies over AAC. Now some expect whole releases to be available to them at a click and absolutely free of charge. It hasn't set a great precedent but there were no doubts £50 Note genuinely hoped the record label would pick up the project and run with it. The point remains with each of these mass give aways the chances of the label doing something (however slim) reduce further and your Recycle 2 will have the same impact once it hits the torrent sites (and it will, no matter how "private" you make it).

negative1 wrote:

mixes, vinyl, and compilation tracks?

What about them? If you want them go and hunt them down, that's what I and many others here had to do sometimes at considerable cost. Sometimes via private trades over E-mail but mostly via Ebay. Again, there's that entitlement...

negative1 wrote:

That's disingenuous because as you know it's mainly remixes, they only had 5 sporadic b-sides post-Factory:

Vicious Circle, Behind Closed Doors, Sabotage, Player In The League and Such A Good Thing - in that order.

negative1 wrote:

100 copies, not 30. Again, if you really want one they are for sale on Discogs.

Promos are never "in print" to begin with as they're not meant for public consumption. They're pressed once and that's it.

Actually it did stop them in the case of The New Order Archives, or did you miss this? You may be interested in the bit "It was mentioned to me that the label has been focusing on me/the blog(s) as well.".

No worries, the CD single is on Ebay for 2 quid.

Just to clarify, this isn't me having a pop at private trades or fans sharing material between each other. I do that myself and I've both helped out and been helped by many cool people over the years. For instance I'd be happy to help you out with the VC mix privately (PM me if you want) but that's very different than putting up the entire 1993 to 2006 discography for free download.

Like I said to negative 1, best of luck with the blog etc.

you are basing your thoughts on a false assumption.

since you didn't join the blog, you have no idea about the
project parameters.

no body is expecting anything for free, they are investing their time,
and sharing their resources with each other. i would hardly call that free.

there will be no impact, because new order and their management never has and
will never provide the quality product that the fans can make by themselves. after
waiting 30 years, if the best they can do is retro, and the botched remasters,

i'm not willing to wait 30 more years for them to straighten their act out.

Vicious Circle, Behind Closed Doors, Sabotage, Player In The League and Such A Good Thing - in that order.

you have a different idea, maybe if you expanded that to include
all the non compilation tracks, and live tracks. it is a small
but significant amount.

i stand corrected, you are right, the 12" only had 30 copies. yes, they are
on sale, for a ridiculous amount though. no thanks. already have it.

and yet, i have countless promos in my hand, bought and paid for.
turning a blind eye to them does not make them disappear, and
neither do your definition of them.

most of them contain valuable mixes, and are an important
part of new orders history.

thanks appreciate it.

but if you think a bunch of tracks are going to miraculously appear
in FLAC/WAV for free. you have no idea how this project is going to work.
or what is going to come out of it.

none of your points make any difference in the scheme of things,
and it stands there will be many more to come.

=============================================
1 recycle+ - a entirely new take on the original recycle with a lot more missing, extra tracks and demos

2 remasters+ - what the remasters should have been, 2-4cd sets for each album, with the
missing tracks done properly

3 retro+ - what retro really should have been

etc. this is just the beginning.

if you and leather girl are not interested in this project,
and continue debating about the ethics of it, have no fear.

it won't change anyone's opinion about it. and it will just
continue to waste your time reading about it, and all the
other projects. you may safely resume commenting about their
apperance, pointless interviews, and the lack of anything
coming out from them in the future.

cheers.

Oh wait, you can't unless you have the cassette single of it,

Well, i can put up a higher quality version of it.

I wasn't denying their existence I was taking issue with your assertion that a promo can be "out of print". They're never "in print" like a normal album to begin with because they're not meant for the general public. A batch is pressed around the time they're needed for press and radio use and that's it.

Anyway we could argue this until the cows come home. I would say if this project is truly "private" and "enrolment is now closed" then there's no real need to post every single update regarding it on NOOL.

It's not my place to tell anyone what they can or can't do, but I'd like to state for the record that this project does not have any involvement from myself, Bruce, or Drew, and should not be confused with our original Recycle project in any way. We were given permission (to a point), and used a highly critical eye toward quality control - both in sound and artwork. We got as far as drafting out the post-Factory singles for a second project, but limits were imposed, and countless redundant edits were completely ignored. There's a difference between a listenable project, and hoarding.

Good luck.

yes, thanks for clarifying that point.

it was never meant to insinuate that myself or anyone in the project was
related or involves you in it.

you were the original inspiration for this project and many others.

while this will not be the end all, be all new order project.
i feel it will be equally as enjoyable, and pleasing to new
order fans, as yours was to me.

i still listen to your projects.

and while i did not follow on with your joy division, smiths,
or REM projects. i know that they were equally liked and successful.

however, i will continue to post updates here, as i said, it is much
easier to discuss this in this forum. also, there is pertinent information
that is much more easily pertinent to new order, than the 50th interview
with hooky going on about the band.

and although the enrollment is closed. it won't stop people from asking.
and i've received several more requests since then.

however, i will continue to post updates here, as i said, it is much
easier to discuss this in this forum. also, there is pertinent information
that is much more easily pertinent to new order, than the 50th interview
with hooky going on about the band.

Please (re)familiarise yourself with the NOOL forums Code Of Conduct which we're all expected to loosely abide by specifically these paragraphs:

Quote:
Solicitation… Refrain from using NewOrderOnline’s forums or chat to advertise your site, items for sale, commercial services or website. You may attach a short link to your site within your profile or signature but if you would like more promotion, you can either purchase publicity or contact us for promotions on the site.

Spamming…Spamming is the multiple posting of an identical or similar post on one or more of our Forums.

You've posted purpose of your project and how to contact you regarding it, that should be sufficient. Digital Republic is not here for exclusive publicity for a private project which you've just closed access to anyway. It's also not really for you decide that your Edits project is more valid than current interviews by band members or their current projects. Having said that nobody's stopping anyone from discussing Recycle 2 on this thread.

I would ask please do not link files of copyrighted material directly onto these forum, take it off site via a PM.

The band and their management are known to frequent these forums and we want to try and maintain a good relationship with them.

Thanks

No worries, the CD single is on Ebay for 2 quid.

Oh yeah, thats the one Ive got. I must mean the NO mix, with all the trashy samples all over it. I have it on a much abused cassete so if there's a better copy I'm interested.
