I was listening to a copied CD of 1960's classics at work, when this came on:
And I loved it, until I looked on YouTube tonight, and saw the name of the songwriter. Pity. King, Gadd, the guy from the Bay City Rollers? There'll soon be a quiz team on Only Connect called the... |

I don't understand how they became a hardcore metal band
And the funny thing is their (his anyway) synth stuff is really good too. The first song off their first album really hits you. |

One of the first ever electronic dance music acts to come out of Dublin/Ireland. They paid through the nose for Todd Terry to do a (short) remix of one of their tracks which they had to finish off themselves. It was nonetheless Touched By The Hand of Todd.

John didn't look like the rock god type when I saw this on my PC monitor! But he sure has class. The ballad almost sounds like Keane at their very best. Very grateful to have heard this, so thanks, Bill! |

I'm certainly NOT saying it's a carbon copy at all, but listen to this album track from Keane's debut album Hopes And Fears (if you haven't bought it - meaning you really should have by now):
However, thank you for letting us know about this guy's music. It is very impressive. |

Didn't know Tame Impala had done a cover of Remember Me. The mashup works well. I liked their 2012 album Lonerism, and the vid below for the related single. I didn't realise at first that the whole video was rendered in plasticine. It's great even without knowing that. Especially full screen.

Painting my kitchen earlier i was listening to Gilles Peterson's show on BBC 6Music. Brilliant mix of jazz, soul and electronica.Following that was Craig Charles' funk and soul show. Never had really been big on that guy but he does have humour and great enthusiasm on listening to his show this evening. First track on Charles' show was a stomper; Creedence Clearwater Revival's take on Heard It Through The Grapevine

We went to a Northern Soul night at the town hall last Saturday. Well, we hadn't planned to but kind of stumbled across it when some couples in a pub up the road told us it was on.Didn't attempt any of the dance moves, just sat at the sides watching, mesmerised. This song's fricking great
