Interesting story from Bernard about meeting Iggy. Almost sounds akin to me meeting Bernard. Good to hear they have 7 tracks with vocals done. Makes me consider heading to NYC tomorrow from work in Philadelphia....

I haven't looked at Chappers' Twitter before. It seems that his followers include some bloke called Peter Hook.

'Speaking of ill, New Order founding bassist Peter Hook has recently been in the news for speaking ill of Sumner.' Possibly the worst link ever.

My favourite part of the interview is under the heading Not-so Silent Face:

When asked the band’s official stance on Hook, Sumner sighs. The latest round of critical words from Hook are not the first that the bassist has shared with the press.
“At the end of the day, he left the band. It’s as simple as that,” says Sumner. “He obviously wanted to do his own thing, which at the time was as a celebrity DJ and then he formed the band Freebass. So of course we’ve got to respect that, and we wish him all the best, really.”

Sincere or not, well wishes probably sting Hooky more than if Bernard had told him to go fuck himself.

Yes, New Order are clearly firing on all fucking cylinders and I reckon we can look forward to 739 EPs per millisecond Until The End Of Time and no compilations or Blue Monday rererererererererereleases ever again. In just 15 years they've spoilt us stoopid with tracks like Rock the Shack, Working Overtime and everyone's favourite single Jizzstream. I never thought they could top Shake It Up but last year's stunning EP knocked me for six and proved - as if proof were needed - that New Order remain the world's most productive, essential and surprising band. How do you do it lads 'n' lass? What's yer fucking secret? I guess we'll never know.

I quite liked Jizzstream, thank you very much.

Really liked Sugarcane, I'll Stay With You, Recoil, Shake It Up, and Californian Grass too.

Are those tracks as amazng as Blue Monday?

No, but you can only reinvent the wheel so many times. As long as New Order write good tunes, I'll be happy to give a listen. If they can pull off anything as good as Here To Stay, I'll be satisfied.

CG sound really good with Iggy's vocal. He was so...loungey.

I like Jizzstream too! Especially mine over Melanie C. As Hooky said at the time, it's one of those trax that needed remixing - Arthur Baker's take is the best...? Same goes for World - Perfecto, Spooky - Stadium and ITYS - Crazy World. My point is just that I don't understand why everyone goes weak at the knees every time the Barnster says the words 'new' and 'material' in the same decade. I got into the band circa '89 and ever since then it's been one false alarm after another. To my memory the only 'prompt' release was One True Passion, and Hooky later confessed to rushing it to get the band on the road! It certainly sounds shoddy, especially by the Light / Monaco / even Freebass standards.

Working Overtime would have been a great choice for Iggy to sing at the Tibet House performance. I imagine they chose California Grass due to it being sung in a lower register than Bernard usually uses.

If you're a CURE fan you must be equally frustrated. Might explain your lack of creativity when cutting down NO.

Aw diddums! Bob's son dares to criticise lazy, internationally famous multi-millionaires New Order. I'm sure they'll lose yearsa fucking sleep over that.
I ain't frustrated or uncreative - OR able to understand how my comments could possibly have caused offence. I was simply pointing out the historically documented (i.e. fucking obvious) truth, which is that there's no point jizzing yer pants every time they broach the subject of new material. The facts speak for themselves and I'm not gonna go through them yet again, partly 'cos I can't be arsed, mainly 'cos if you're on this forum you probably know the FACts (see what I did there?) better than I do. Heard the one about the leopard and its spots - last year's EP fiasco being a case in point. I love New Order and I love talking / speculating about 'em, but FFS you gotta Face Up (see what I did there?) to the Truth (see what I did there?). After all, I have bravely come to terms with the fact that Melanie C may never feed me beer and kebabs in a frilly skirt, which is a great shame because I like wearing them. Enthusiasms's great, but keep it real.
