In some blatant linkwhoring, you might like going here :
http://www.mixcloud.com/mrmarkreed/Over the past year or so, rather than do nothing on endless train journeys to and from work, I have been busy with old New Order singles : using remastered versions from a defunct blog, I have fed them into my computer, and attempt to create 'Full Length' versions of most of their old A sides, using - as much as possible - every alternate musical part from the A and B sides, to create really long (and occasionally boring) 10-16 minute versions. Almost every edit is a 'hard' cut, and the idea is to create a long Master version of each track using all the separate parts possible from the two sides of the original release, removing any redundant and identical bars and sections, in a way that sounds, as much as possible, like a genuine New Order track from the time stretched out to epic lengths. I know there's a sloppy splice or two, but given what I had, I did the best I could.
Here they are on Mixcloud for streaming :

What has become fascinating is how much NO material they squirreled away on B-sides, 12" mixes, and alternate versions. "Round & Round" was particularly good, as I realised that huge chunks of the single were re-recorded including all the bass, drums, most of the keyboards, guitar lines, and lots of new vocals. Also "Subculture" and "Bizarre Love Triangle" had huge amounts of new recordings for the single, and the 12" of BLT has no Hooky bass at all, even though Hooky bass is splattered all over the 7" mix. "World" has some slightly different vocal arrangements on the various mixes.
Also, there's lots of little fragments that are only on various remixes of "Krafty", and the Japanese language version on the Asian CD also appears to be differently mastered to the English language version on the same CD (bizarre). Every remix of "Krafty" and "Round And Round" also seems to have a different set of bass parts (!).
Finally, there are some tracks that aren't in here, for a number of reasons.
The 7" and 12" of "Temptation (1982)" are different recordings in every sense.
Not sure about "Hurt", but the 7" and 12" of "Hurt" are not different enough to warrant bothering with.
There is a fan mix of "Thieves Like Us" (Stolen Mix, I think) that does the job, so no point me doing so.
"State Of The Nation" and "Shame Of The Nation" are too similar structurally, and too different sonically, to make work. Same with "Vanishing Point".
"Angel Dust" I forgot about and don't like too much, but might play with in future.
"Run 2" all the remixes sound so similar there's no point.
"World In Motion..." all the remixes are cheesy Italian house piano and thus, boring.
Finally, I'm not touching the ridiculous Sly & Robbie mixes of "Ruined In A Day."
After 1993, all the mixes become so numerous, with so little original N.O. music in them, they become practically pointless in most cases.
*if* the mods are OK, I could provide download links to 320kbps MP3's. Anyway, enjoy 184 minutes of Factory fun.
