pick the songs you think will be singles after restless: tutti frutti - seems certain people on the highline plastic unlearn this hatred singularity *TECHNICALLY ========================= what i should have said, by 'singles', are separate releases, either physical or digital or both, that have extra mixes, or versions of the song (and not just the album version or edit). so something like 'restless', as a cd-single, 12 inch, and digital release would qualify. later -1 Edited by user 04 October 2015 11:07:36(UTC)

Good question! To be honest I'm not sure what a single release means these days but if it's to do with radio playlists Superheated and Academic maybe :)

I think you left out some important songs.
My first choice is academic, but I don't think it will happen.
But also unlearn this hatred should be a single, as the chorus is very catchy. But at least it should be a club single like guilt is a useless emotion, and someone like you were.
And superheated is very catchy and radio friendly. It might help the Killers out as well.

They should release a single near christmas.Which one though? Tutti Frutti would make the works party or any christmas/new year party go with a lot of fun whereas Superheated would have that schmaltzy, sentimental and warm christmas thing lol
No , seriously, Superheated is a sure fire radio friendly hit waiting to happen and would give both New Order and The Killers a rise in exposure.

I put on the cd in the car with my 16 year old daughter, and the first song I played was unlearn. And she said it was too clubby. She only likes top 20 pop music. The second song I played was academic. She said it was not her kind of music. The third song I played was tutti. She said she hates the singers voice. The next song was superheated, and she loved it, even said it was their best song. Granted she only likes Temptation '98, hates everything else. But still I found a winner. So if you want a bunch of teen girls at your concert, release Superheated. I still have more songs to go threw with her, next time. And I played a little of Stray dog and she said it was creepy, but that was a given.

Nothing but a Fool - for the sake of feeding a wider variety of tastes.
Academic - for me. With a big fat B side that is another new track.

Superheated, although it'll need an edit. More than ever "singles" are meant to make the general public aware there is a parent album they may like to buy and being as this has Him From Out Of The Killers on it and they're quite a popular beat-combo it should mean lots of interest and coverage.

Superheated feels like the obvious choice to me but I'd love to hear radio edits of Singularity and Nothing But A Fool.

Just to show how wrong the world is I've been reading Wikipedia and according to that New Order released Plastic as the second single from Music Complete on the 16th September. Of course, there is no actual physical single to buy, no b-sides, extra tracks or remixes. Tracks just appear. See? There's no such thing as singles now or, as someone else put it, they're all singles now. Wank (the system, not the music or the band) Edited by user 30 September 2015 06:00:13(UTC)

Plastic was a promo single with no physical release I would like a proper second single with a physical vinyl release and some remixes maybe, Singularity and Unlearn This Hatred would be good candidates for this in my opinion |

Just to shake things up a little, the band should release "Stray Dog". It would be a typical New Order "two-fingers-to-the-world" gesture. If, by some miracle, mainstream radio stations would play it, the song would scare and confuse all those by-the-numbers DJs who couldn't put a radio show together without the same sanitised playlist of folk-based shite that passes as pop today!
As Coop says, singles don't matter any more since we can't actually purchase a CD with B-sides or remixes. A real shame.

Tutti Frutti People on the Highline Superheated The Game
Restless did a great job of saying “New Order are back… nothing has changed”, and I reckon the next few singles should offer all of the following…
- make everyone like the song from bar one, without even knowing it's New Order - make old people say “I can't believe New Order now sound like this” - make people say… “everything has changed… and I might even prefer the New New Order” - be ripe for huge brilliant proper remixes - be worth remixing, rather than being remixed for the sake of it
Yes, Singularity is probably a better song than those above… but then, it grabs the heart of every New Order fan. Would probably be ignored by everyone else.
Unlearn this Hatred? Brilliant, but not sure up it would have wider appeal, and it doesn't need a remix… except perhaps to be the same but longer.

i added a description as to what would qualify as a 'single'.
basically, the old definition of a digital/physical or both with new tracks, and mixes is what i was thinking of.
just putting out an album track wouldn't qualify.
looks like some of the other tracks i didn't mention are getting a lot of votes also...

Stupid rules.
You can have a 40min cd single if it's all remixes, but not if it includes a bside.
So, we probably have cd singles with nothing but remixes to look forward to.

I'm not a big fan off remixes. I mean, one or two at a push but sometimes I find there's a limit to how many 9 minute mixes done by people I've never heard of I can take. There's been some great remixes of New Order, a personal fave would be the K-Klass Ruined In A Day, but also tonnes of crap. Edited by user 05 October 2015 02:19:34(UTC)

Am i the only one who hears Nothing But A Fool as the big killer chorus quintessential New Order single??
It doesn't seem to get mentioned too much in the reviews either, but for me it's the best song on there
But back to the question - it's pretty awesome that almost every song could be a hit single (in the old-fashioned sense)
Apart from Stray Dog - which if it didn't have Iggy on it, would have been a Player In The League style throwaway instrumental b-side
Compared to Republic which starts with one killer single, and then feels like they sequenced the rest of the album in order of how bad the songs got
