or the 2 songs Hooky claims on the album that are supposed to be about him, well which 2 are they, or is Peter talk shite, again? Edited by user 28 September 2015 02:48:11(UTC)

Never mind that, it's been three days since Music Complete was released and we've all enjoyed listening to it, but just how much longer are we going to have to wait for a Rant from Hooky?

How Do You Sleep? Poisonous Intent and Sugarcane. I'd be surprised if they were sniping like that. The relations could hardly be worse already.

Barney's lyrics are generally applicable to a myriad of people, including himself. Despite their often childlike simplicity (perhaps because of that) they can nearly always apply to ourselves as well, as if he has the same access to what happens in our lives as God does.
But, yes, if you think of Hooky all the way through the album you might think that he was the main inspiration for most of the album lol.

I certainly think there's more than two; I'd say Academic and Nothing but a Fool, for sure. Unlearn This Hatred and Singularity might be about New Order and the situation caused by Hooky, rather than being directly about him. It's like on Republic, most of the lyrics seemed to be about Factory or New Order... Edited by user 28 September 2015 05:37:57(UTC)

I'd say the only song clearly all about Hooky and their relationship was Poisonous Intent. That and the band name Bad Lieutenant. I don't really see much Hooky inspiration in this disc honestly. Edited by user 28 September 2015 06:51:08(UTC)

Actually, I've changed my mind about Academic, it's likely to be about a someone at school, as the name suggests, like a teacher...

Round and Round was apparently about Tony and - another Monkhouse scoop - Liar definitely was. 'I can't stand the music' was reportedly cos he used to have MTV playing all day and Barney was miffed.

Everything is about Hooky:
Bassless NotDrinkingRegularly Plastic (An ode to Hooky's plectrum) Tooty Booty [Peter is notoriously flatulent] Lacking in the Bassline Estranged Blog Hackademic [Regarding thinly veiled wish to swap Hooky back in for Chappy] Nothing but a Full Share of Future Earnings is Acceptable Unlearn those Basslines (Change) The Name Hookdefeated

Late follow-up... In '93 Bernard said the 'Chemical' bit about a payroll factory wasn't specifically about Factory, but I found it hard to imagine him penning such a line in different circumstances... He also said RIAD sounds like it's about Factory but wasn't: they all went out and got 'zonked' and then wrote this tune. The notion of '93's NO hanging out together and bashing out a track together struck me as dubious too, but that's what the man said. Won't you listen to what the man said?

Not sure if it's clear that this is from Hooky's perspective. Jokes are always better when you have to explain them, right?
