Music Complete. Album number 10. The last words sung "It's over"
Anyone else thinking this is the end?

Long time reader of this forum and fan since 1980. I felt compelled to join after listening to Music Complete.
This album is chock full of sounds and references to previous New Order tracks and to artists/genres that have inspired the band.
You may well be right and in a way I don't mind if it's true. I think it's a terrific summary of all that they have accomplished.

There's 2 reasons why I don't think it's over:
1) if the upcoming gigs are majestic then I see no reason for the band not to do another album say in 2 years time. Barney already stated there were about 5 leftover tracks from the recordings for music complete. As long as relationships in the band are harmonious and people like Tom are happy with their role then I don't see why the momentum doesn't continue.
3) Brandon flowers sings those "now it's over" refrains at he end of superheated. It would be highly unusual that Bernard doesn't get the final word (you can apply that to anything).

Nah.
I have a feeling there's at least one more album in them.God know when it would be though. After that i would think that'd be it.Bernard will then retire and spend his life sailing on his boat. But if he can't resist the urge to keep writing and making music you never know. You get the impression he'll always have the urge to create music. Also ,he loves the attention and adoration it brings.

It's not over…
- Barney has a way of getting songs out under the New Order name while mostly working alone
- Gillian and Steve can work from home, but with the involvement of others, so will actually finish/release stuff
- Tom and Phil can earn a living, and have time to do their other music as well
I can see recording going on even if the mini-touring comes to an end.

yep, looks like the band are phoning it in. this is the message.
Actually the new album is a kickstarter for the band. They've proven they can make music without Hooky, they've developed a workflow and are on a new label. It would be easier to make more music now. They may even use some of the left over songs from Music Complete. (there's 5 or 6)
The band have made a few hints at doing a new album. Nothing's set in stone, but it's clear they've got it in mind.
Even if they don't write and record new music in the near future, they'll still be performing live. After all, the point of Music Complete was to get them new songs to perform live. It's completely ridiculous to say New Order is ending, if that's what the original post is saying.

Where and when did he say that there were 5 tracks left over, if it is true then we will surely hear those in the future, GREAT news. |

Er, wasn't it more like Bernard said in the Arthur Baker interview they 5 ideas for songs (that they binned) rather than 5 completely finished songs!? An idea for a song is a long long way from a finished song

I think the "It's over" bit is referring to a relationship, isn't Superheated about a relationship ending?

Between the title and the ending lyrics, you could say they're signalling they're done, but I think this album is too good for it to be their last even if they intended for it to be. But I don't think they did -- They sure looked like a happy lot on stage with Arthur Baker and the title makes sense -- it's a fairly diverse album for them, from the Joy Division like Singularity to the disco funk of High Line. I'd say 4 or 5 years before the next album comes out, though.

I believe it is but lots of people are interpreting different lyrics to be veiled references to Hooky so.... It probably isn't the end, I certainly wouldn't put it past Sumner to structure the album in such a way as to trick simpletons like me, but if it is it's a mighty career synopsis and sign-off in one.

Republic has always been my fav NO album, (well since 1993 anyway), though it may be overtaken now. I thought Republic was the end for years - then it turned out not to be. There were similar “clues” in the lyrics of Special. Wow, did someone sound sore. Funny how things turn out!

New Order are on a creative roll! It would be a crime for them to call it quits now. Several more great albums are in the future for sure.

I think there will be several more albums, New Order are undergoing a surge in creativity and since that dude who used to play bass left, the band seem happier than they have ever been when interviewed and on tour. |

The last song on the last Cure album was called It's Over and they've still released things and are going to release things. |

Actually it can never be over until they atone for Times Change, Rock the Shack, and letting John Robie near Sub-culture!
