It doesn't seem to get mentioned too much in the reviews either, but for me it's the best song on there
But back to the question - it's pretty awesome that almost every song could be a hit single (in the old-fashioned sense)
Apart from Stray Dog - which if it didn't have Iggy on it, would have been a Player In The League style throwaway instrumental b-side
Compared to Republic which starts with one killer single, and then feels like they sequenced the rest of the album in order of how bad the songs got I always quite liked Player In The League. One or two dodgy lyrics in it yeah but i like the song. The final minute or so outro is superb. In fact i've just had to play it as i hadn't listened to it for years. So thanks for reminding me of it Could have just about made it onto Get Ready .As for Republic's songs declining in quality as the album goes on i think Get Ready declines even more so.Was never a massive fan of Someone Like You though i know a lot of people rate it highly.Rock The Shack, Close Range and Run Wild were all a bit meh. As for keepitcoming's opinion that Tutti Frutti would be bigger than Blue Monday...well, yeah, in an ideal world but i don't have much faith in the British record buying public. They're too into vacuous EDM shite or dreary Sam Smith/Ed Sheeran type cack.

Regret, World and Spooky were good songs and good singles. I only like the K-Klass mix of Ruined in a Day for some reason. As for the rest, Everyone Everywhere is one of my all-time favourite New Order songs! Young Offender and Special are another two decent songs. Hooky's subtle bass on many of the songs is pretty good too. Overall, I reckon Republic is pretty good.

So how is Restless doing in the charts? I will admit I was surprised when they did release a single. The video was most likely a waist of money. Maybe in the Uk you will hear Restless on none top 40 radio stations. But the rest of the world you might hear it once, if at all. I think they have become a fan based band. They built up a big enough fan base and that's who they cater too. New fans will be a rare thing to come by.
As for tutti frutti, it will do as well as Restless. They may promote it on some uk shows, but it won't crack the top 40.

Still yet to hear Restless on uk radio. Admittedly I only ever listen to X Radio, Absolute, Radio 1 and crappy Capital. If Mute want to get commercial success then then should release Superheated in the winter.

1. Superheated--it needs no remixes, it's perfect in its form. 2. Tutti Frutti--for big fat remixes. 3. People on the High Line--I want to hear edits/remixes of this song, as it's there's so much that is buried in the mix that needs to be relieved... That guitar bit starting at 4:38 -- it's classic New Order, why didn't they use it throughout the song more prominently??

Bernard talked in the Radio X interview about a lot of the extended versions being stripped back to reveal some of the layers of the tracks that you can't hear so clearly. So even if this isn't a single, maybe you'll be in luck...

Mine too! How that got overlooked as a single for Ruined In A Day is beyond me Originally Posted by: Fotzepolitic As for Republic's songs declining in quality as the album goes on i think Get Ready declines even more so.Was never a massive fan of Someone Like You though i know a lot of people rate it highly.Rock The Shack, Close Range and Run Wild were all a bit meh.
Good point - in fact that applied to WFTSC to some extent too. That last track Working Overtime is probably the worst thing they ever did IMO (maybe tied with Rock The Shack!) Music Complete is a different proposition completely, the standard of songs is consistent throughout.

On soulseek last night i saw a user who had a folder of Music Complete radio edits. Didn't manage to download them all, but they seemed pukka. Each track was shorter than on the album. Stray Dog instrumental

the radio edits are not too bad, the instrumental seems real enough.
wonder if it was in house promo. i don't think all the songs could be singles though. later -1

Wonder if these are the radio edits you've obtained? Most are shorter either by a few seconds or as much as 2 or 3 minutes from what eventually ended up on the album.Though People on The High Line and The Game are actually longer in that list from July.

I have a recurring dream where Melanie C feeds me beer and kebabs in a pink dress. Don't know why I wear that. My fave off the album is Academic but as a more acoustic track it'd be difficult to mix. There was a remix of 'Run 2' as the second track off the 12" and it was cringe-worthy. What's the point? A safer bet would be Tutti Frutti - danceable, radio-friendly and mixable like Silk's Fine Time Mixes. We'll see. Ultimately it makes no difference cos the fans'll dig everything off the Net anyway.

ok, tutti frutti it is....
2 new mixes out.
the edit is different from the 'fan' one.
the hot chip mix is nice and blippy electronic, with a slower bpm to it.
nice.

well, the polls were right... tutti frutti nailed it.
after listening to the extended mixes..... i really like plastic as the next single.'
but the polls say singularity, which is also a good choice.
will most likely, a single will come out next year.
this has been a good one for new order.
