You seem to know all about the remixes, have you seen this it was played on Radio 4 of all stations, but I cannot locate it:

7:23 Jetstream (scissor cut remix) presumably a connection to ANA MATRONIK?
Let's all wave our arms about !

I have the whole 12 x 12" set in storage (I don't think I've actually laid eyes on the vinyl in 8 years). I seem to remember at the time the Blue Monday 12" charted pretty well but the rest fell by the wayside. The quality of the sleeves were dreadful as well, the thinnest crappiest card which bent/damaged/marked incredibly easily. Dread to think the condition of most of them going on the second hand market these days; getting a mint copy would be an effort and a half these days.

I think in retrospect it would have been nicer to have the "Turn" single plus the Wally Gagel Tribute Mix as Mr Reed has linked.

The additional remixes commissioned for the campaign mostly weren't that great either with the exception of the Planet Funk WFTSC which was a great slice of progressive electro and worked really well considering it only kept Bernard's vocal plus one or two bits of the keyboards. The Tocadisco Regret, King Roc True Faith and Filterheadz WFTSC were all pretty forgettable and very much "of their time". The Dubs some of which were previously released were even less memorable.

That was the end of vinyl collecting for me. Found 10 of the 12 singles before coming to the conclusion of it's diminishing returns. 30 years worth of collected records (and a few hundred CD's) traded in at Amoeba S.F. in the summer of 2013.

Eh? You sold 30 years worth of records and CDs because the 12 x 12" campaign was shit?Confused Bit drastic or have i misunderstood? Just because you reached a point where vinyl collecting had lost its appeal why would you sell all the ones that you had amassed over 30 years?

I have all the 12 x 12", or 13 x 12" as somehow i ended up buying the one with Dub Vulture, Shame Of The Nation and I Told You So (Stuart Price mix) twice. It was a bit of a slog obtaining them all (think new ones were released every couple of weeks or so if i recall ) - many trips down to the post office to pick up as i was out at work on most occasions when delivery was attempted.I liked the commissioned Regret and True Faith mixes back then and gave em a fair few spins .The Planet Funk WFTSC was great.I never did really make up my mind if it was all a pointless campaign or not really - i kind of enjoyed completing getting them all but did it make much difference having them?....maybe, maybe not.Guess it would have been much more enjoyable for someone who didn't already have any of the mixes. But yeah the sleeves were pretty cheap and nasty, definitely.

Like NotAmod said , would have been nice to have Turn released as a single ( seem to recall there was even artwork made up for the sleeve featuring a Tern? Laugh ) .The WFTSC Tribute Mix was ace - played it a lot back in the day though i didn't actually obtain the vinyl, i downloaded it from some link on the old NOOL if i recall.Wasn't the best quality mind and i just now grabbed the audio of that YouTube link Mark Reed posted.A much better quality.

the 12" x 12" were all released the same day, as I remember - I ordered all of them from my local HMV, picked them up in person, and paid a lot of wonga for them.

12" x 12" was the promotional campaign for 2006's "SIngles".. As I remember originally "Turn" was going to be lead single for "Singles", backed with a wedge of remixes, and art & a video was comissioned. This got shelved and the remixes became the 12 x 12" campaign. Also, the remixes on the B of the WFTSC 7"'s were also part of the series of commissions.

Singles was actually 2005 and Waiting For The Sirens' Call (the song) was the first single to be taken from it. Waiting For The Sirens' Call the album only had 2 bona fide singles in the UK, those being Krafty and Jetstream. The US market got a digital only-third single in the shape of Guilt Is A Useless Remi.... sorry Emotion. In many ways that was a very New Order thing to do, take the title track of the album and release it as a single for another release entirely. Turn was obviously due to be the second single but just never came to be. I've always thought it was a shame the Tribute Mix never got a proper official release but the lossless version which leaked out at the time is good enough for those lucky enough to have nabbed it.

I didn't think that 2006's 12" x 12 was a wonderful project at the time and still don't but considering how badly the band melted down almost the same year er, as fans we can probably let them off with it Smile

Hmmm... i beg to differ on that .I don't recall them being all released on the same day.More like they were drip fed released two or three at a time over a few weeks as i remember it Smile Or probably I remember them as drip fed over a few weeks as that's how I received them- they weren't delivered all at once. It's just the word "Campaign" to me means something spread over a period of time, like an election campaign or a football team's campaign over a season . Anyway, not important!

The remixes on the b sides of the x3 WFTSC 7" vinyls ( and the extended versions that became available elsewhere) were all better than any of the ones commissioned for the 12 x 12" campaign except maybe WFTSC Planet Funk.Secret Machines' Temptation and Cicada's Everything's Gone Green were superb.

My favourite of the videos for Turn was the one with the old 1950s movie clips.Actually, i can't even remember the other videos.

According to Wiki, they all came out on 27 Feb 2006? Maybe the 'new' remixes were leftovers and repurposed from a "Lets make new remixes for the Singles Compilation" thing.

Quiet why this bloody great mix of EGG never made it out, I have no idea : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMDETkHva20

Hi,
Have been stalking here for a while- 1st time posting,

As I remember I ordered and then bought them all at the time of release, from my local record shop. Perhaps i'm wrong but they all turned up at the same time!
And yes the quality is poor, thin vinyl and paper sleeves.

Rich
