Heard a rumour earlier in the week that NO were to be guests at Brian Cox's Christmas Compendium show at Hammersmith Apollo last night and saw a few twitter posts about it late last night.Apparently they played Your Silent Face with Brian Cox guesting on keyboards.Anyone have more info/setlist etc? How do you embed Tweets on here? Edited by user 12 December 2015 06:16:18(UTC)

Any chance of Coxy (as I believe he is sometimes known) taking part in Run Wild? (Sorry, that was just a silly thought)

Also, correct me if i'm wrong but i think that's the first time ever they've played at Hammersmith Apollo?

They were due to also play Blue Monday as the final song, but ran out of time. And, yup, they played Hammersmith Palais back in 1985, but not the Hammersmith Apollo/Odeon.

Cool. How did the band seem doing this surprise guest appearance? Were they relaxed and chilled doing the songs? How long was the actual entire evening's show? Was it all Brian Cox going on and on about the physics of the universe all night? Yes that Hammersmith Palais show in November 1985 i tried to get a ticket for but it had sold out.Being only about 17 back then it didn't really occur to me that i most probably would have been able to get in by buying a ticket off a tout if i'd just gone down there.Just didn't think about trying that when i was that young age.I do have the bootleg somewhere on cassette - a great gig.

They seemed to be enjoying it - Brian Cox joined them on keyboards during KW1 (left hand side of the stage), and the crowd appeared to be enjoying it (although some left to try and catch last trains, etc)! :p They probably played about 25 minutes (I think they came on about 10:35'ish)? The rest of the evening was a mixture of special guests - John Culshaw doing a Sir Patrick Moore impression, one of the newer presenter from The Sky At Night (can't remember his name), Andy Hamilton, some university lecturers (presenting various stuff), a classical string quartet, Chris Hadfield (excellent as always), Sara Pascoe, Brian Cox (only doing about 20 minutes), Charlotte Church (singing 2 songs including a Beach Boys cover "God Only Knows"), and mainly Robin Ince doing various routines and introducing various acts. Alison Moyet was the musical act the night before (Thursday night). Some of the presenters were interesting (Andy Hamilton, John Culshaw, and especially Chris Hadfield), but unless you're heavily into your sciences, it did get a bit tedious (personal opinion, only, of course)!
