Will you be reviewing Turn The Heater On? As it's a cover version and only recorded for a Peel session I don't know if it'd qualify ? And also what about Too Late?

Pretty much anything from the Order's string-laden atmospheric deep synths quarter will do nicely. Should be memorable. I reckon the band will be nervous as f@#%, among all those 'real musicians'

Agree totally about STYT. The rhymes are embarrassing though the opening and closing are OK. I'm sure Johnny Marr (so it must be true) said this was their worst song circa RTP.

Subculture is the only song I cum close to rating on the second half. The Record Mirror alt was good cos it was an extended take rather than a fuck up mix, and it increased rather than limited Hooky's contribution (Rest Of, anyone?) - pity about the crap 7" vinyl sound quality though. The Savile story was never corroborated - the only ''''''''''authority'''''''''' I found was the Paradise fanzine - but I liked Robie's attack. Pleasantly all over the place. I know the purists hated it but I even enjoyed that stridulent squawk (squawks usually are) at the end of the dub. Ah, happy days... Days when I noted 'A view without a room' on the LP track became 'A room without a view' on the single. This tells you a lot about the state of my social life then. And now. I remember reading that Gillian found it 'trite' too. Awesome, cumming from someone who took 3 years for 'Someone I hate / She thinks she's great' and 'He put the bags in the car and he felt much better / She wanted to drive but he wouldn't let 'er.' Pure Dylan. Edited by user 07 September 2016 01:39:21(UTC)

I agree Bernard's lyrics in some songs from the 80s would seem to contradict themselves from sentence to sentence which if you really let it could be fucking annoying and nonsensical. I think Bernard or even the whole band have said they used to sit down and try and all come up with lyrics and then chuck 'em all into one song and chro bar them together so no fucking wonder a lot of them didn't make sense on some tracks. The "giddyup" bassline on Face Up always seemed to me a nod to that Hi-Nrg sound of the mid 80s - singers (ahem) like Hazel Dean and there was another one whose track had that similar giddyup thing, i'm thinking Evelyn Champagne King or someone like that. She had a hit with a Hi Nrg bassline that was similar.Tried to find it on YouTube to demonstrate but to no avail. Haven't commented much on these writings of yours Mr Remmer but while i'm here - yep, you certainly know how to put things into words when describing a song. Many song reviews you've done have matched my opinions and feelings about a sound, a melody, a drum sound, a lyric , whatever....Except i ain't clever enough to put it into words.Cracking job yer doing with this project of yours. ^ Yep that's the one i had in mind- Evelyn Thomas, not Evelyn Champagne King.Mix that Frankie circa 84 Hi-Nrg type bass with some Hazel Dean from the same era and you've got Face Up's "giddyup" right there.
