Hi Guys,
I'm new around here, but wondering if somebody can help me please?
One of the presenters on Magic Radio in the UK, uses a version of 'The Good, The Bad & The Ugly' theme music as a backing track on his drive time show. I've been told it's by New Order and was on the flipside of 'Ruined in a Day'.
I'm think I'm right in saying the album version of the song samples some elements from 'The Good, The Bad & The Ugly' but I wasn't aware that New Order had actually recorded a cover version of the theme.
Does anybody know anything about this please, or am I just missing a trick?
It's a great track, but obviously the presenter talks all over it when he uses it ...
Cheers, Lance.

New Order did borrow from Ennio Morricone's "For a Few Dollars More" for Peter Hooks twangy bassline on Blue Monday. Perhaps that's where your idea emanates from. See below:
. And they also did an unreleased version of the Mission Impossible theme. And that's about it.

Johnny Marr released this on the Ruby Trax compilation during the Electronic era. Barney was busy with New Order at the time.

Thanks guys. Really appreciate it.
Andy - it's the Johnny Marr track, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

In '93 Hooky told MTV RIAD was influenced by Morricone... There's also a NO cover of Mission Impossible but it's rarer than missing a 'thanks' off Rocket Mick.

Nope, but it was the only Republic single to boast a new B-side, Vicious Circle.

RIAD does sample the original, Morricone soundtrack recording of The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. The very first beats of the soundtrack are used as a subtle breakbeat throughout the song - most easily heard right at the start of the album version. Sampled from this - right at the start. You should submit it to the Who Sampled website. Originally Posted by: Michael Monkhouse There's also a NO cover of Mission Impossible but it's rarer than missing a 'thanks' off Rocket Mick.
