I picked up the vinyl edition of the remastered Power , Corruption & Lies when i was in HMV the other weekend.Had been toying with getting it for a while and was finally thrown by the sight of that magnificent cover in the racks. At least i think it's a 2015 remaster, i kind of lost track of these events.Or is it the 2008 remaster? Anyway, decided i'd like to purchase as my old 1983 copy is pretty much unplayable these days.I like the slightly refreshed cover. It's not better or worse than the original but just different.Only slight quiblle is the back cover isn't die cut like the orginal and the inner sleeve is flimsier than the original. The sound quality is really good to my ears though i'm not negative1.
Planning to get the Low Life remaster on vinyl next as , again , my old 1985 copy is shot.Apart form that i'm not fussed about the other remasters. My vinyl copy of Brotherhood is in good condition as are Movement and Technique.I bought the new vinyl issues of Get Ready and Republic vinyl last year.

Is it this one, Johnny? If so, it's the 2008/9 remaster. No big deal though, I'm sure it sounds great as there weren't really any glitches reported with that one (famously, it was the bonus discs rather than the albums which suffered the most). To date, the new 2015 remastering hasn't appeared on vinyl. Digital only so far.

As I said I lost track a bit which is which what with some of the 2015 reissue/ remasters. Yeah it's sounds good enough to me though as I said I was slightly disappointed with the back sleeve cover not die cut. The refreshed front cover is impressive though. Yesterday I picked up the , what I assume is then , the 2008/9 remaster of Low Life on vinyl from the great little independent record shop Swordfish Records in Birmingham. Like the P,C & L remaster on vinyl the sound is great but the sleeve doesn't match the original . No tracing paper cover but you can't really expect that amount of sophistication to be reproduced now. I still have my original tracing papered edition though so I'm ok with that . Swordfish Records also had the 2008/9 reissue of Brotherhood on vinyl with that remixed "shiny" metallic sleeve . Quite startling to see and hold in my hands when I'm so used to the less flashy original Brotherhood sleeve. But I didnt buy it.Not fussed about that one.

Unfortunately the physical sleeves on the 2009 vinyl reissues aren't great. Cheap flimsy cardboard and yeah as you say touches like the original die-cut bits are missing. The "new" artwork divided people at the time I seem to remember; Brotherhood in particular as it's a bit of a departure from how the original Fac150 looked but I personally don't mind them. I don't think anyone can deny that the new PC&L sleeve looks miles better than the original cropped CD edition.
I have no idea but am hoping that the Singles corrective reissue will be a gateway for more stuff and done properly this time.
Fingers crossed...

A little part of me wonders now if i should of held on a while to see if the 2015 remasters of P,C&L and Low Life are released on vinyl.Oh well i've bought the 2009 remaster versions now.So be it. The 2015 digital versions of the remasters though- are they any or much better than the 2008 ones? I mean, with my purchases i got the download card for the digital versions of the 2008 remasters of P,C&L and Low Life but haven't redeemed them yet. To be honest i don't think i'm that fussed about spending out £8 or whatever for the 2015 digital remaster version of Low Life or yet another £8 for the 2015 digital P,C&L . Just out of interest though is the 2015 remasters much superior to the 2008 ones? Guess i'm getting into negative1's specialist territory with that one. It's probably been dissected and discussed to death already somewhere on here
