Wouldn't you think they'd do a deal with Mute and have a Singles album with the singles from Music Complete on it?

Imagine trying to get a compilation with both pre and post Hooky departure singles past the man himself. No way he'd agree to that.

Is this the promo that Kevin Cummins tweeted? https://twitter.com/KCMA...tatus/770562735276957697A second disk of non-singles, obscurities and cover versions? Has that instrumental of WFTSC ever been released elsewhere?

So any ideas what it is?
He clearly said it was a "new promo"
It looks lovely!

If they finally manage it, fans on this forum would have nothing to talk about in the 876390 years between releases and couldn't get a boner every time something ''''''''''new'''''''''' is announced. It looks lovely! I think it's a publisher's promo, like this Joy Division one: Discogs entryHence the rather strange selection of tracks (and remixes tacked on the end). Hardly anyone will get these, Kevin will have got one because they've used his photos. Edited by user 07 September 2016 01:49:59(UTC)

Singles LP box is in the house. Just as you'd expect really. The 4x LPs are sleeved in blue leaf design with the original track notes on the reverse. There's the same Dave Quantick liner notes on the back of a vintage band image. Download code included.

This old pedant was wondering whether anyone else had noticed the misplaced title on side seven and the omission of the title of 1963 on side 5.
It's been a long week!

They could have at least tagged on a new paragraph at the end. I was hoping for a creative explanation of how I'll Stay With You qualifies as a "single."

I picked up both the double CD and vinyl box today. The box looks really nice with the etched/embossed gold leaf. The mastering on the new CDs is much better than the original pressing and the corrected 7" versions are obviously welcome. It was worth it for that. Playing a track titled "Run 2" from an official New Order compilation and the actual single remix playing is a new experience (!) Actually, to be fair it was correctly labelled on the Technique bonus disc back in '08. The only slightly odd thing is the original compilation was released in October 2005 yet the (same) David Quantick liner notes are dated "2006". I can't remember if that mistake was in the original edition or not...
In my opinion Hellbent (the Radio Edit) should have been the Lost Sirens track on this compilation as it was the closest thing to a single from the Total compilation back in 2011. Bar a Dutch promo CD ISWY never really qualified as a single. But then again Turn wasn't really a single either. Not a big deal.
It took the label a decade but the compilation is improved and hats off to them for doing that (plus vinyl-ising it).

Welllll.... if i spot the vinyl box set when i'm in HMV tomorrow i might buy it. From depthcharge's photo i like the blue sleeves for the x4 vinyls and i've always liked that vintage photo (circa 1989 is it? ) We'll see tomorrow if i feel like departing with £40 (+?)

The vinyl box-set's £59.99 new from most retailers. EDIT: As Debaser quite rightly points out, it's cheaper on the New Order store. Edited by user 10 September 2016 07:40:11(UTC)

Jeez where do these fuckers get off?

£44.99 + a fiver postage from NewOrderStore. They sent out an email today and I honestly thought the NME quote said "pointless" rather than "peerless" when I glanced at it. I'm guessing that the CD will be about five quid on Amazon in a few months time.

I hope close range and special are longer and even more wonderful, and maybe there are French horns oboes and mellotrons on some of the instrumentals.and maybe some electronic songs could be grafted into disc #14- feel every beat, warning sign , flicker, some distant memory, prodigal son, late at night, make it happen, etc. And a longer version of such a good thing, and recoil, sabotage, California grass , and transmission in French and Navajo, please, and more lost sirens, that's it. |

It's been a long week! Annoying, it wasn't like that on the PDF proofs. Something went wrong at manufacture I guess.

The Perfect Kiss appears to be the original 7" edit as opposed to the slightly longer/alternate one we got on Total.

I like this little promo advert thingy. Anyone remember the floaty leaf they used to promote Singles the first time around? That was really nice.

^ Don't remember a floaty leaf promo thing for the original Singles but i distinctly remember a tv advert for it.Saw it a couple of times, seem to recall it was brief clips from the Regret video but overlayed with a few audio snippets of various New Order hits like True Faith etc
Saw the CD in HMV today for £14.Didn't see the vinyl box set though. But anyway, i didn't buy.Maybe when the CD is reduced in price in a few months time.

Yeah one and the same, sadly. But did anyone really expect them to go to any effort to freshen this stuff up? Their track record with box sets and compilations is sloppy to say that least. Imagine a day when a New Order label actually consults some hardcore fans before throwing together another compilation. Free expertise and error correction.
