Slowdive. Was into some of this lot's stuff back in the day 1991.They released their first album in 13 years earlier this year and i've just got round to giving it a listen. This song really is quite eerily hypnotic.

This from their Filigree & Shadow album , 1986.Yet another Tim Buckley cover they did but it really is great. "Then you be damned!" I screamed to the Hobo; "Leave me alone," I wept to the Hobo; "Turn into stone," I knelt to the Hobo; And he walked away from my fleeting house

You have a good reason for not recognising her. She is Gavin Russom and is perhaps taking a walk on the wild side (to borrow from Lou R) at the moment. So 'she' used to look like a 'he'. NME has the story here,EDIT: I've just realised there's an extra track called Pulse which you can download for free from LCD's website. Which I'm now doing. So that explains it.I was scratching my head thinking who's that? I like her/his dancing but did think in one closer up camera shot, is that a bloke? Cheers, D.

This is ace.Actually an old track from 1979 or something but i heard it on Nemone's show the other week for the first time. Lori And The Chameleons - Touch edit: Lori And The Chameleons included Bill Drummond apparently, and Dave Balfe (later or then of Teardrop Explodes?) and was on Drummond's Zoo records.

Hippopotamus by Sparks - got a signed copy at their show at Shepherds Bush Empire. Not the sort of thing I listen to every day but it makes a pleasant change, doesn't mean I'm to going to rush out and buy the other 22 or so other albums of theirs I haven't got though.

Not sure I've ever listened to the floatation mix of Confusion. The addition of the "WRL"s and the lack of vocoder on Bernard's voice make it sound slightly more New Order-y than the PP Reconstruction.

Kraftwerk - Antenna I remember my brother buying Kraftwerk's Radioactivity album in about 1984 but hadn't heard this song again until this week. Radioactivity was originally released in 1975 but some of the in yer face sounds on Antenna wouldn't have sounded at all out of place on any Chemical Brothers album over more recent years

Still on a Kraftwerk tip trip Showroon Dummies- picked up a vinyl 12" of this a few years back and a video remarkable for the fact it has a few seconds near the end of Kraftwerk members Ralf, Florian, Wolfgang and Karl dancing.

MGMT, "Little Dark Age"
My roommate and I have been awaiting their return for quite a while, and we couldn't be more pleased. I'm adoring the synth bass on this track, and the production is (to these ears, anyway) very nice and clear, with each timbre easily discernible. The band, I think, seldom get the artistic credit they deserve. Or, at the very least, there is something admirable about their blatant willingness to experiment with their sound. Each of their three albums has a distinct character, and each is excellently produced (the second being produced by Peter Kember of Spacemen 3). In short, I am very excited for MGMT's fourth full-length release!

In short, I am very excited for MGMT's fourth full-length release! I was watching last night the new video for that new MGMT.Watched it a couple of times actually, trying to get my head round if i liked the song and video or not really. It's difficult for me to get into but i am full of cold and crap at the moment and my head's all fuzzied up so my ability to enjoy or appreciate anything right now is limited.I perhaps enjoyed the video more than the song so far though. Funny you mention Pete Kember and Spacemen 3, i heard an old Spacemen 3 song for the first time the other night; Revolution from 1989.Really liked it and kind of regret not taking an interest in them when they were a going concern in the 80s.They were from my hometown (Rugby, UK) and i remember being aware of them and that they were a local band back then and probably even saw Pete Kember and Jason Pierce around Rugby in the early to mid 80s.But i was totally obsessed with New Order back then and thought Spacemen 3 were some local goth band (they were actually more Psychedelic/Stooges thing weren't they but i didn't check them out back then, doh). Was looking up their gigography the other night and they did play a number of gigs around Rugby in the 80s and i regret now not checking them out.I did get into Jason Pierce's Spiritualized from their first album Pure Phase in 1995 and later Ladies & Gents We're Floating In Space and Let It All Come Down. Was aware Pete Kember produced MGMT's second album though i've not listened to it.I think Pete Kember played a gig in Rugby earlier this or last year but i was unable to attend. From what i gather he played some of his own stuff and some old Spacemen 3.

John Carpenter, Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998 - to tell the truth, this would have been good as an EP: the themes to Assault on Precinct 13, Halloween, Escape From New York and The Things are excellent pieces of music, some of the other stuff less so (he hasn't really done much of note in the later years) The Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross version of Halloween is well worth tracking down when you get a chance.

Slowdive , Sugar For The Pill at some thing for radio in New York. "Sugar For The Pill/You know that's just the way things are"Though the Slowdive music (the new album has some great songs on) is actually better than it was in 1991-92.Shoegaze meets 2017.

Did anyone watch Charlie Brooker's most recent series of Black Mirror a year or so ago? The episode San Junipero really was a trip. This music formed a great soundtrack.Thing is it paints an incredible rose tinted spectacle of 1987 whereas if you really went back in time 1987 was mostly grim (it did have a few highlights though generally and personally) Still, if yer in the mood for romanticsing and rose tinting a time and place this music's for you.One of the best titles for a piece of music ever, either way.

Bored with Oasis' old albums? Yeah me too. Bored with Noel and Liam's solo stuff? Yeah me too. Well...except for this. The opening track from Noel's forthcoming album. He took most of his own vocals off, and pushed the backing vocals up in the mix. And lo, it doesn't sound like boring lad rock. Or dad rock.
