https://twitter.com/pete...tatus/975406444387463169 It's nice to play this one again after 20 years... Run! Tune in to @marcrileydj on @BBC6Music tomorrow from 7pm GMT for our live session via https://t.co/0IWGHTm1Jt or @BBCiPlayerRadio Set your tape recorders for a Hooky & The Light radio session, I get the feeling he'll be playing some of the Technique/Republic tracks in the studio. :)

Seeing Barney's singing in a new light...
Maybe a tour of Fall covers might be better.

Anyone get this as MP3's? I um, am a bit lacking in 'skillz' on that front.

Thanks very much - good to hear the first studio session from Hook in years. Not convinced on some of the vocals, and the acoustic guitar on "Regret" sounds a bit unusual, but I'll listen again a few times to see if I warm to them.

Can't be arsed. Carbon copies with bad vocals and none of the excitement of the live experience.

Thanks to the OP for highlighting this and to skotnz for the rip and upload. I look forward to listening to these later.

Just listened to the tracks.
Rather enjoyed them. Sometimes I forget just how bloody brilliant Run is.

I listened to this last night i thought it was shocking to be honest
loved his low life/brotherhood tour but didn't like the substance and won't be going to this tour

Oh well, at least Marc Riley played a great old 1996 Radio 1 Mark Radcliffe session version of Serpentskirt by Cocteau Twins.

I don't think any of the songs were performed spectacularly. It's the first public performances of "Run" and "Totally Wired" and the second of "Regret" (they played it in Wychwood in Summer '16). What it did highlight is that N.O. took a big leap around the time of "Technique" and The Light are struggling a bit to reach it ; these are the first songs Hook is singing that were written / recorded after Sumner took his singing lessons and the band became a bit slicker and more professional. "Regret" sounded slightly off (acoustic guitar not electric, for example), and I couldn't tell on "Run" or "Regret" if I was meant to listen to Potts or Hooky as Pottsy is clearly a more suitable singer for the songs in a higher register but his vocals were quieter. All techy stuff aside, I hope the band get more fluent with the songs with repeated performances : the sets where the band have played the songs more (such as the Hebden Bridge CD's) the performances are much more confident and enjoyable.

The whole point of the Light is they're a night out. The ethics of repeating the past are dubious, but the actual gigs are always awesome - 2 hours, note-perfect, no stone unbummed, great value for money too. I was a huge fan in the early 90s, but my enjoyment was always Jolly Marred (see what I...) by the suspicion I'd never hear some - any - of the tracks live and revitalised. Getting gems like Tiny Tim and Sextasy bashed out by a quality band featuring a founding (arguably the most distinctive) member would make my mouth water, but that would be disrespectful to Mel C. I know Hooky sounds like a combination of Cookie Monster and another Cookie Monster, but the experiewnce is always so cool you genuinely stop caring. Now strip all that away and what's the point? I'll listen to a proper Regret or none at all, thanks.

What's the difference between syphilis and Berlusconi? Syphilis MIGHT go away.
