Anybody know anything more about this item:

https://www.discogs.com/...acienda-EP/master/838096

It looks like it is Hooky versions of Elegia, Sooner Than You Think, The Happy One and the theme from 'The Vikings'.

Anyone heard it? Anyone able to help me out in getting to hear it?

Any help gratefully received.

Hmm, so it came with a limited signed copy of The Hacienda: How Not To Run A Club, book.

My hardback of that book came with a DVD inside (HMV exclusive, I think) called "Inside The Hacienda". But I was unaware of this until now. I guess it's possible that someone here would have it, but then you'd want them to have ripped the audio from the vinyl. Good luck!

Well, stranger things have happened.
And, to be fair, if anyone has got that EP, and ripped it, it'll be someone who visits here.

Well, here's The Vikings on Soundcloud.

If you click the "Buy" button on the soundcloud it takes you to This page. Scroll down a bit and it addresses the tracks on the record. Maybe they'll still sell you one of these packages for £500!

Ah, cheers.

Nice to hear at least one of the tracks.

I actually quite like it. There’s only a slight bit of ‘The Vikings’ theme tune to it and it’s very much of the ‘club’vein.
There’s a certain part of it that’s sounds like very early Depeche. Kind of like ‘Ice Machine’, b-side to their first single, ‘Dreaming Of Me’.

Bit annoying that the only way to hear the other three tracks is to spend £500 on a bit of the Haçienda dance floor etc.

Ah well, my quest goes on.

Ah. Neat. Thanks.

Too rich for my blood though.

I just get annoyed with products like this.
I'd like to hear the music, but I'm never going to pay £500 on such a luxury item (however nicely presented, it's still just a few pieces of plastic with fairly limited appeal).
Just to hear four tunes that Hooky possibly knocked up in an afternoon (I may be exaggerating here, but it seems unlikely that he would release some of his best work to such a limited audience).

I don't know why the music has to be exclusive to the box set.
Presumably, the tracks are just bonuses; not really meant to be major selling points (like the signature, piece of dancefloor etc.).
They should've just released the tracks digitally. Let people actually hear the stuff that Hooky spent time crafting (rather than have it languishing in the above linked stores, collecting dust, nine years after the book was released).

Also, there's a reasonable chance that any collectors who did spend £500 on the set may also be reluctant to share the tracks as this may lessen the collectors value of the box. Nobody will get to hear them at this rate.

I had no idea that the box set went for so much. A crazy price. I think I'll have to resign myself to the fact I'll probably never hear the remaining three tracks.

Also, as an aside, I don't have a turntable, so would still need to transfer the file to digital.
I suppose if I could afford to spend £350 / £500 on, lets face it, a box of tat*, I could probably afford to buy myself a decent turntable.

(* pretty-looking tat, mind you)

Thanks for the info though.

The question is "Is it better or not than the Christmas flexi disc?"

The funny thing is that In the discogs database, four of the twelve copies owned are owned by the distributor ...

Who knows? It seems unlikely that most fans will ever get to hear it.

At least with the Xmas Flexi a) you can buy the thing (second-hand) without all the peripheral stuff bumping the price up and b) both tracks are available elsewhere (on the 'Ghosts Of Christmas Past' CD), so at least fans can easily hear them.

I hadn't noticed that. It looks like 4 of the others are owned by one person too. Kind of makes me think that he is some sort of distributor for the product too.

Have they sold even one? Don’t all photos except the ones on the Foruli site look like mock-ups?

You’ll never hear the Hacienda EP. It doesn’t exist?
