Any official NO remixers around here who might know if it's a new song, cover version, remix...? EDIT: OK, I should have read the link in the tweet. This is just going to be silence then? Mmkay. Edited by user 16 January 2019 08:23:16(UTC)

I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't really know what 4'33" was until I read up on it. Could be interesting. Perhaps Hooky will guest; the sound of his teeth grinding as he gets more and more wound up...

A silent track? Kind of reminds me of Orbital’s “Criminal Justice Bill” track they did.

I guess it ends up being more of a silent film.

Anybody heard any news about this?
It's currently May 2019 and I think that's when it was due to come out.

They were talking about it on 6Music the other day.Interviewing someone who has something to do with it.Can't remember who they were interviewing, what show it was or what day.But it was definitely this week! Sorry to be so vague but it seems like it's definitely getting released yes.

I remembered the show now.It was Daniel Miller as one of the guests on 6Music Roundtable a week last Thursday.Miller talks briefly about the project but i'm not sure he gave a release date. Go to 38 minutes 35 seconds hereedit: oh Daniel Miller does mention the release date but only in saying it will be later this year.So maybe it has been delayed. It's not a silent track, it's about the sounds that happen during silence - because nothing is ever truly silent. It's a subversive idea, and the sort of thing Tony Wilson would have loved. Laibach's official video for their contribution will give you an idea. I'm excited to see the number of different ways artists will be approaching this, and that fact that former Mute acts like Nitzer Ebb and Renegade Soundwave are participating. I'm hopeful that each artist is creating a video, so we ge a DVD, and an accompanying CD which sources the audio from those videos. Laibach 4'33"

The previews for the whole set can be heard on iTunes - very interesting how everyone has interpreted the 4'33" concept. NO's sounds a bit like a night flight on an airliner, or a large air conditioned room.
Interesting stuff, although I'm not sure I could binge-listen the whole box. Might go numb.

As a tinitus sufferer, I'm all for this concept. Any ambient sounds that distract or keep the ringing in my ears company can be most welcome on a bad day.

Listening to that, it's as if I'm stood in a large warehouse, with not much going on. The doors are open and it's pissing down outside.

Pitchfork posted a review back in August. Even they acknowledge the listener isn't likely to make it through the whole set. This is more of a fundraising stunt than anything else. I love it as a conceptual piece. While all the official marketing has mentioned that the bands have created a visual to go along with each recording, I can't seem to figure out if the set includes a DVD.

I had an email from Mute on Friday, which included a download for all the music in WAV and a set of videos. Haven’t watched the videos yet, but there was only about 7 or 8 of them, I think (not by my computer, so can’t check). Considering they sent me the whole set of music and only a handful of videos, I’m guessing that not every band did a video. There wasn’t a New Order one amongst them. I wasn’t expecting this download. I ordered the CD (which hasn’t arrived yet) and they sent me the downloads as well. Nice bonus.

I've seen the Laibach and Nitzer Ebb ones, but didn't bother to download the bundle. So maybe the booklet includes each visual? Can't wait to find out!

Got my CD set in the mail today. Very minimalist design. The artists are arranged in chronological order as to their first release on Mute.
New Order is the last artist on CD 4. Tiny band photo stood on stage. No one is looking at the camera. Barney has his arms crossed and Phil is checking his phone. "We made the 4'33" recording on stage at our soundcheck at The Anthem, Washington DC on 28 August 2018 at about 16:30."
ShadowParty are on CD 5. Recorded "with Joe Duddell and the No. 6 Ensemble. Live from Portmeirion Town Hall, Festival No. 6 on 8 September at 12:30." The cheek of having extra players (including Duddell) makes me grin.
In addition to the artists themselves, a number of designers who've worked with Mute artists over the years have also contributed images. None by Peter Saville, but there is one by Jon Wozencroft.
