True Dub is great. I really like it.
Actually, thinking about it, I really like pretty much every official remix from the Factory years.
There's a few that I'm not that fussed with:
Sub-Culture 7", 12" / Dub-Vulture 7", 12" mixes are all a bit of a mess (to say the least). But they're ok, I suppose.
Shellshock 12" is fine but it just goes on far too long, with the chorus being repeated 8 (!) times at the end (yes, I counted!). Pretty In Pink version is much better.
One or two of the Round & Round remixes don't really float my boat.
The same can be said about some of the World In Motion mixes.
But apart from the above, I pretty much love every 7", 12", Dub etc. mix they did between 1981 and 1990.
New Order's 1980s' 12"s were mostly sublime. But then we all know that.
Then you get to the 1990s and the least said about that period the better.
Sly & Robbie, anyone. No? Me neither.
As regards the Brotherhood 2CD, I wasn't too bothered by the inclusion of the Eschreamer Dub as it was interesting to hear this extremely rare remix (although, admittedly, it wasn't great). I think it had been scheduled for release and was pulled, wasn't it?
Talking of which, has the actual Eschreamer 'Mix' (rather than the 'Dub') every got a release?
An edit of the Dub appeared on that 'Cream Live' LP from the mid-90s (mixed in to other non-New Order dance tracks).
It will be nice to get the digital releases of all these singles as they are released but, to be fair, I've always been very happy with the awesome 'Recycle' project restorations. It's the actual LP box sets that have me most excited.
