New order are celebrating 40 years next year and I for one think they should grace us with at least two new tracks (ie 12” release) to celebrate. They may not have time for a full album but something in the vein of true faith or tbthog would be a great way to celebrate.

If anyone connected to new order is reading this please pass on to band members, if Bernard is struggling to come up with lyrics I’m sure between us on this board we can come up with a few.

Agreed, something new would be good. It's been a while since Music Complete....

Yes definitely I am waiting for something new by them, it has been so long since hearing something new, it would be really nice to hear something new to celebrate their 40 years of music.

depends on when you consider them starting as a band.

first gig july 80, gillian joined in october 80.
ceremony came out in january 81, so 40 years from then is next year.

Well, I’d certainly class the year they actually formed and played gigs as the basis for any anniversary.

Pessimistically, I doubt they’ll mark the formation of NO with anything.
I’m guessing we’ll get a JD anniversary though.

Well the original poster just said “they’re celebrating 40 years next year” . So it can only be interpreted as celebrating 40 years since their first song release, not 40 years together .Next year is 41 years together as a band in my opinion.

Fair point on the 40:years but I did mean from their first release, either way it’s time for some new music

Agreed. I’d take a 12” (steady, Michael!) or even an EP.
I think the band can muster a couple of new tracks.

Bound to happen.
The worst thing about Sgt Pepper's 20th anniversary was EVERY fucking article going, It was 20 years ago today... It was 20 years ago today... It was 20 years ago today... It was 20 years ago today... It was 20 years ago today... It was 20 years ago today...
I was kinda glad Linda died before Paul got to be 64. What COULD the headlines've read?

I don't know about the rest of the band, but Bernard doesn't seem in the slightest bit bothered about recording any new music, let alone releasing anything, so as it goes, all we're likely to get is even more reissues yet again: maybe something on coloured vinyl, if we're 'lucky'.

Yes true it has been 5 years and nothing new from NO, my only hope is lets see if Monaco comes with something new and nice , Music for Pleasure was amazing, Peter has not made anything since Freebass and it wasn't that good, hope he has some nice ideas and music for the new Monaco album if they ever release it .

Bernard did work on 2 songs coming out on Zachery new album, lets see how they sound, maybe he might sing on them

"taking the title from a 1970’s nickname for New York City, Starkey’s FEAR CITY is an album firmly about the present and looking towards an increasingly dystopian future. The depth of Starkey’s vision and songwriting for this project has resulted in new musical contributions from Bernard Sumner, the leader of pioneering electronic band New Order, and founding member of Joy Division. Inspired by Starkey’s songwriting, Sumner provides synthesizers, guitars, drum programming, and additional production on two key Starkey songs, the anthemic club track “Force”, and the darkly powerful title track, “Fear City”. Both are set to be released as singles in early 2020. Starkey opened for New Order on their sold out Music Complete tour."
