Gone at 57. Some will know him from Screaming Trees, others from his time as a temporary member of Queens Of The Stone Age circa Songs For The Deaf (I saw him live with them the weekend before No One Knows was released as a single, sending QOTSA into new territory), others will know him for his solo work. Hooky's son, Jack (who used to be here on the forum) played bass on Lanegan's last album Straight Songs Of Sorrow. Lanegan also appeared live with Hook & The Light as per below.
The tweet below is from December, it's not a cash-in.

RIP
My knowledge of Mark Lanegan is very very little but have long been aware of him and from what i heard he did a hell of a lot of great music , either solo or in collaboration with many different artists.Mention Queens Of The Stone Age to me and i kind of instantly turn off, that kind of music doesn't interest me but there was a lot lot more to the guy than grunge rock i think? I'm sure i posted a track he collaborated on a year or two back.Kind of a dance track but quite dark and a very dark deep growl of a vocal ( or spoken word?) by Mark Lanegan. Can't recall the track now but i was pretty amazed by it at the time.

^Thanks but nope it's neither of those.I have now however remembered what it was. It was Dave Clarke feat Mark Lanegan 'Charcoal Eyes'.Think this was from 2017-2018, something like that.
