I enjoyed this, Andy. Thanks.

Love that gig. Fantastic atmosphere, early magnificent Temptation, Gillian at her most Goth. What’s not to love?

I always loved watching it, big fan of the early period, I know most fans prefer a later era when they were into dancier stuff but as an old JD fan I loved them dark and moody Smile

I remember being blown away by it the first time I saw it.

It was very early into me getting into the band (around 1987, after True Faith & Substance).

I'm not even sure if, at that stage, I'd got a copy of 'Movement'. I remember looking at the video box and thinking 'I don't really know any of these tracks'. I put off buying it, wanting to see the band perform BLT, Blue Monday, True Faith, Shellshock etc.
Eventually, I persuaded a mate of mine, who had also just got into the band, to purchase it.

As soon as we got it back to his house, we slapped it into the VCR and from the opening of the sublime 'Chosen Time' (an underrated classic), we were both hooked.

Think I bought it myself the following weekend.

I remember thinking how odd it was that this band, who did all those great danceable 'pop' songs that I was used to, could also make music as ethereal, yet menacing, as the tracks on this video.

The video also helped to solidify my opinion that the band were the most mysterious group of individuals in the world. Their image seemed impenetrable somehow.

They were strange and magnificent. And I loved them.

I still do.

I'd got into buying New Order records around 1983-84 as a teenager and one of the record shops in town had a small selection of music concert releases on VHS that you could rent out for a day or two. I first watched the Taras video after spotting the VHS available to rent from the shop one day. Straight in first song Chosen Time I was astounded at how much better it was than the version on Movement. First seeing EGG and Temptation on that tape and I was blown away, I thought those 2 performances were simply incredible. The version they play of Temptation at that gig is possibly still my all time favourite live version of the song.
