No date for when this might be aired but might be worth a watch. Seems as if it'll focus just on the Hacienda rather than previous docs that crammed NO/JD/Factory/Hacienda all into one

Thanks for this.

I hope there's a considerable amount featured in the programme about the ideas and design of it. Plus the early days of the venue being more of a venue for live music.

Whenever anyone talks about the Haç, it invariably focusses on the acid house movement, which isn't something that particularly interests me.
I might be alone in this though.

I did manage to make it to the Hacienda a couple of times at the time of acid house.Had great nights both times but at the same time felt that I'd have swapped those nights for seeing New Order at the club in circa 1983-84, which I had never achieved.

I went once around 1990-1, just before the club shut down for the first time.

But, like you, I’d trade that in a heartbeat to see the band in December ‘85 (or any of the other gigs).

I saw them in Oct 86. Great setlist if I recall and also went a few times on club nights and local band nights from 86-89. I liked it when it was empty. I've got the Jon Savage Hac book which is a good document of the early years.

One of the nights we made it to the Hacienda was a week or so before Italia 90.Last track of the night was the Carabinireri mix of World In Motion, first time i'd heard the mix and a great moment on the Hac dancefloor.A perfect moment i always recall.Excitement was building for the 1990 World Cup and to hear that mix to top off and end the night was just the fricking bollocks.Think it was our second visit to the club a week or two later i bizarrely bumped into an ex girlfriend from my home town Rugby.Turned out she was at Manc Uni.One of the nights , exiting the toilets i passed a random, though very cooly dressed, 30 something guy.On second glance i realised it was none other than Bernard Sumner.Later on i passed him on the stairs and said are you Bernard? He replied no it's just my hair, makes me look like him.At the end of one of the nights i remember spotting Tony Wilson, walking in the door in his long coat and glasses and surveying the raving throng with pride.I also saw on one of the nights, er, Mick bloody Hucknall, all curly ginger hair and leather trousers.

Great recollections, Fotz. Even the one about Mick Hucknall.

My solitary visit didn’t result in seeing any famous bods, but I still had a good time.

My abiding memory was that they were showing The Ten Commandments (Heston film) on a big screen there. No sound. Just the images.

I'm not sure The Smiths really fit in with the rest of the tracks in that show, (although I like the song). Gave it a listen anyway on BBC Sounds app.

In fact I searched the word Hacienda on the app and it brought up a bunch of things like this.
Some of them already mentioned here on the forum.

Some notes:
The Dermot O 'Leary show is only available until Wednesday, 4am.
The Chris Hawkins show (which I haven't listened to) doesn't appear to have much Hac -related music.
Ana Matronic has two shows tagged with Hacienda. The second one seems more pertinent IMHO.

Having now listened to all 4 hours of the two Hac shows from Ana Matronic, I still agree with myself(!) that the second show (29th May) is the better one. The final half hour has a cracking mix from Greame Park. He surprised me with some of his "deep cut" choices where I had to actually check the BBC tracklisting.

Hooky pops up at 1hr05, just after Shellshock and he blathers on -between tracks- until about 1hr25.
Ana praises his Hac book, and yes JET gets a quick mention but doesn't get played (as it should be).
Lots of Factory artists at the top of this show too (inc BM 88).
