Round and Round 1:2 (will get played in NY or Toronto on 2nd night)

Love Vigilantes 5:1 (appears to have been dropped for Isolation)
Any othe Technique track 50:1 (if it happens, I'll eat my favorite hat)
She's Lost Control 10:1 (most likely Joy Division song to be added after Atmosphere)
Everything Gone Green 25:1 (something tells me this may be re-worked and would sound great as a 5 piece)

Give me your odds......

I think the biggest stumbling block for getting anything other than the current crop of tracks is the videos.

Looks like more and more work is going into the videos for the current tracks than attempting to do anything different 'musically' with new/old tracks. The videos/lights for the likes of Isolation and Here to Stay have come on leaps and bounds in the past couple of months. Even Ceremony has its own backing video now too ... and of course we've all see the 'Joy Division Forever' video for the encore, which has morphed subtly over the past few gigs (but still looks like it needs a helluva lot more work).

Given that, if anything new/old gets added it'll be 1963, seeing as it already comes with its own backdrop - you left that one off your list!

Another point to think about...do any of you seriously think they have enough time to figure out what song would work well live, then rehearse it enough so they can play it, plus figure out the video/visual effects? What you want them to play might be different from what is realistic (whether it works well live and time issues).

I'd be intrigued to know why they obviously don't think songs work well live? When I say 'they' I'm guessing it's just Barney's decision anyway.

What prompted him to decide 'Thieves Like Us' wasn't worth pursuing? And why did Here To Stay disappear then return with such force? And what's the issue with Round & Round - gets aired for Ibiza (they had to play it there really), but why does it play second fiddle to the likes of Krafty and 1963?

Well, I don't know. But I still think there's a difference between a fan's 'ideal' setlist vs what they can or will play, whether people like that or not.

You are too right I did forget to include 1963 on my odds list. Odds for 1963 is as follows:

1963 2:1 (stong feeling it will get aired at some point)

As for Atmosphere, they have a video they can mine for a backdrop. Works great.

I did not take into account the video aspect of things, and for that I would be remiss from pointing out the videos for the following songs could all be translated quite nicely to back drops (a la True Faith).

Touched by the Hand of God (cut the band performance use the Bill Paxton scenes) 35:1
Fine Time (would be insane) 500:1
Spooky (never gonna happen) 500:1
Waiting for the Sirens Call (the kid running on loop) 30:1

At the end of the day, its all fun and games really, isn't? I can probably guess 14 of the 16 songs they will play every night and I don't care. I saw them in the US last time around in 2005 and they weren't playing 586, 1963, Ceremony, Age of Consent, The Perfect Kiss, Isolation, 1963, Here to Stay, Round & Round, or Thieves Like Us. I can only go once this time around, unlike the 4 times in 2005. You get married and have kids, things change, etc. I'm pumped at least 1/3 of the set will be different. I'll enjoy dreaming they will play Thieves Like Us in Oakland, until they don't and I'll be happy with Here to Stay (which has really improved since its first airing in Australia oh so many months ago) and the 5 piece Blue Monday which as somone else pointed out is brilliant since Phil is playing the digi-pads and Tom is jamming.

No I'd prefer not to hear it -- in 05 at the US Dates I attended - I heard LWTUA, Atmosphere, She's Lost Control and Transmission. I'm good. I'd actually echo sentiments I've read that they play an all NO set with no JD tracks. I guess you won't escape LWTUA but I would gladly have them put the likes of Love Vigilantes, Round & Round, etc. in for the JD tracks.

As for Atmosphere, I was referring to the clip with the druids carrying Ian's big picture.

They could have a '+' and a '-' and use marquee in Word to have a huge scrolling 'A T M O S P H E R E'.

It would look WICKED!

Oh, and as Who's Joe says, throw in a couple of tiny Jawas from Star Wars, playing at being monks. Or something.

Hey, by the way... the songs they did play in Europe, were they more like Substance versions or the original singles?

Ceremony is always pretty straightforward.
Temptation now has an intro that reveals its' musical inspiration but otherwise is an excellent hybrid of the muscular substance version and the beautiful arpeggios of the original 12".
Blue Monday gets a few more bass riffs.
Thieves Like Us was edited down.
The Perfect Kiss is a bit shorter but sounds similar.
Bizarre Love Triangle is the same hybrid of the 12" and 7" versions that they've played on the last few tours.
True Faith incorporates elements of the Perfecto Mix.

A couple of more Substance tracks I forgot:

Transmission is also pretty similar but a different guy now sings lead.
Love Will Tear Us Apart is similar to recent tours with the occasional Tourette's-like "come on" added randomly.
