Apparently released today.

Not sure if Mojo have done one of these dedicated magazines before.
NME, Uncut and Classic Pop have though.

No probs.

Picked up a copy today.
Like the Classic Pop one, it's pretty decent.
Similar sort of contents to previous magazines - interviews, reviews, photos, article on Saville etc.
Theres's a few rare/new-to-me photos.

It's about 50:50 with the JD:NO split, so much more JD than the Classic Pop one (which only dedicated a few pages to the former band).

I think it's only the Classic Pop one that has the two different covers. Mojo only has the IC cover

Still waiting for my copies of the two magazines... apparently there's some kind of cock up with Royal Mail. I've paid for tracked shipping but it isn't moving since Feb 2 Smile

The Classic Pop Joy Division/New Order special is far more New Order-heavy than the Mojo one

Both are 140 pages and the Mojo one devotes just over half to Joy Division - which seems a bit OTT given the relatively small output of the band. Plus the story has been told so many times now, it actually felt a chore to read

Classic Pop on the other hand devotes only a handful of pages to JD, even to the point where, by the end they are running several pages on the first Electronic LP to fill the space. It's the only off-shoot album that gets the coverage and seems a bit odd tacked on the end there, but on the whole I think Classic Pop does the best job of the two

Yeah - that was my take-away from it too; Classic Pop had less JD and was better for it.
A 50:50 split for a 2:9 LP split (or even a 3:33 year split) doesn't feel appropriate. And, as you say, it feels like they're retreading old ground with their JD coverage.

Still, I liked both magazines and am glad I got them. Not essential, but pretty decent.

Haven't cracked open the my copy of Mojo yet. The Classic Pop one was riddled with errors. I considered posting about it but there is literally so many that it would be a bore to read. There were also bits that, while technically not wrong, were just weird (like a photo of 90's era Bernard in the article on Movement).

Ok, just one quote (from the Waiting for the Sirens' Call article): "With the only woman (and only member responisible for any electronica) gone, only seems to have only hardened New Order's reinvention as a rock band as Waiting for the Sirens' Call, with a few notable exceptions, doubles down on the live-in-the-studio Oasis-isms of Get Ready". Yes, that is verbatim. A "journalist" wrote that.

When i flicked through the Classic Pop one in WH Smith a month or so back i noticed they had a photo captioned as NO performing in Los Angeles or something in 1989.The pic is actually from the Channel 4 Big World Cafe tv thing Feb 89 which if i'm not mistaken was at Brixton Academy or whatever it was called back in 1989.To be fair, probably only a trainspotting fan would know that.
