At Carnegie Hall, advertised on the NO Instagram feed today: 'Bernard Sumner/New Order' with, amongst others:

Laurie Anderson
The Philip Glass Ensemble
Gorgol Bordello
The Patti Smith Band

'and many more!'

I'm going to NYC in March, unfortunately two weeks after this takes place (not excited enough to change dates) but Bernard only played three songs last time he was involved, sounds like he will have at least one of the band with him this time though.

Just seen a set list on Brooklyn Vegans website and it says they played BLT, Sex Object and Shadowplay. Anyone know anything about Sex Object (the song) - edit, just found out it's a Kraftwerk song, got excited for a few mins thinking new material was on the way.

Here's a link to the article, including photos of all the performers. You have to scroll pretty far down for Bernard and Tom. And the photo of the full night's set is at the bottom: BrooklynVegan.com

I'm not sure these songs of debauchery would suit the Tibetan monks. I made it to within 10 miles of the Tibetan border once but was discouraged by Maoist rebels and lack of oxygen to get over a rather large mountain.

Sex Object?! Wow! Definitely didn’t see that one coming.

Nice to see some love for Electric Café out there (and, no, I refuse to call the LP ‘Techno Pop’).
Most KW fans seem to dismiss the LP. Unfairly, I think. It’s no TEE, Man Machine or Computer World, granted, but there’s a few gems on it.

Yes. The album didn't have a great overall concept, but the production and songs were good. But I do agree with Tapebias that "Sex Object" is an odd choice.

I know, given the event it was a strange choice. At least they didnt do the X-rated version of Perfect Kiss (84) or Love Juice (85), oooft.

i love this album, its my 2nd favorite from them, tied with man machine.

anyways, i don't think people hear even understand what the song is about.
go back and read the lyrics. its not what most people think it is.
you think its about the title, its not.

Oh, only jusy caught up with this.Bernard and Tom played Sex Object? Wow. I always interpreted it as about not wanting to be considered as a sex object but i maybe wrong.

Is it that song that has the transatlantic voice, cold and precise "Out on the court" ? Anyways, great tune.

The line is "A lo mejor" which translates to "probably".

Oh, right. Well i've made a mistake there for years. Makes sense. I did often wonder how "Out on the court" fitted. I took it as some kind of Tennis court metaphor for something, though not entirely sure for what exactly, maybe playing the dating and relationship game? "A lo mejor" makes sense. Thanks for putting me right.

Me too.

Would love to see this, especially Sex Object.

Of all the Kraftwerk tracks to pick, this was a weird one. Good weird, but still weird.

You can say that again - in a normal set it would be weird. To work it out and do it at a Tibet House benefit gig (I assume as a one-off, given that it's not been in the first 2 tour dates) is even weirder. I love that the band can still surprise us!
