Perfect Kiss now on Juno Download, iTunes and Spotify, so that'll be at least CD Quality. No sign yet on Qubuz (haven't checked any other sites).

After buying versions of the single over the years, the Collector's Edition of Low-Life, the Definitive Edition of Low-Life and the recent mirrored 12", it seems a bit peculiar to an oldster like me. "Yeah, you bought all those physical copies, but this virtual one sounds the best." Even if it is only a few bucks...

Really glad the Low-life 12" singles are filtering out digitally. Plus in Hi-Res, no less. The Movement/PC&L ones didn't get that treatment.
TPK 12" has a chequered history in digital form; first a slightly edited down version on the Substance CD, then a sub-standard vinyl transfer on the original Collector's Editions. By the time the mistake had been corrected on the Low-Life Collector's Edition (second version) I doubt many people got their hands on it. In fairness, I listened to the corrected digital mastering by Giovanni Scatola for over a decade now and it was by no means a bad sound. Up until now, it was all we had of the full 8:49 glory in digital form.
All 3 tracks sound pristine, loud enough to compete in a modern market but not loud enough to ruin the tune. Job done. Well done Frank Arkwright. Really looking forward to Sub-culture and Shellshock soon.
Next week, perhaps?

Those initial Collectors Editions were from dodgy U-Matics with not enough care taken in the transfer, never copied from vinyl.
The U-Matics are not very good now, some won't even play. A digital format that has not lasted.

That's some archaic audiovisual format. I take it the original master tapes were unavailable at the time? There is that story when Factory "closed" the master tapes were chucked into a skip. From what I've read over the years, the JDNO album master tapes were always safe (in a safe, probably), but the single master tapes might've been a different story? Thanks JJ. Plenty of masters exist in different forms. I'm sure some tapes might have been lost, but most studio sessions produced masters and copy masters. Then there are production masters. I don't think we've had too much that is totally lost so far.

Does anyone know if the band and label are happy with the sales of Low Life so far? Wondering if it has met expectations. |

Sub-Culture (2022 Digital Master) out today. Junodownload only so far, so that's CD quality 44/16. Hoping it will appear in Hi-Res (as TPK did) on services such as Qobuz, HDtracks etc. later in the day.

That's good news. I'll also be waiting for it to drop on Qobuz - no idea why they don't get new releases on my their site first thing on release dates. Very odd.
This release two weeks after TPK suggests we'll finally get digital versions of Shellshock full 12" and Shellcock on Friday 21 April.

Just had a browse here at 7am in UK. Shellshock/Shellcock currently available on Spotify, Amazon and Juno Download. Oddly, not iTunes yet. As in previous weeks, I'm going to wait until it appears in hi-rez later on in the day on Qobuz (hopefully). Amazing it took 37 years for these two versions to become available digitally!

Decided to download the PCL & Low-Life era singles from Qobuz. Bad experience. The downloader app freezes my PC. It won't even respond to a control+Alt+Delete command.

Stumbled over this: the writer who interviewed Stephen & Hooky about the Low-Life definitive box for Uncut has posted a much, much longer version of the interview at his website. Entertaining! https://damienlove.com/high-times-new-orders-low-life/
