After I rediscovered NO about a year ago I started downloading some of their singles. Once I had 15 songs, I decided to put them into a CD. I like people to like the music Im into so, as I usually listen to music with my mother, I ordered the songs ranging from favourite to least favourite according to her tastes at that time, which were not the same as mine. But I wanted to make the CD enjoyable for her and, as the time passed, I started to like the track listing too. For the next 4 months I listened to it on an regular basis but then last January I bouhgt International (for which I paid a lot for and which obviously has a better sound quality), and so I kinda shelved it. I would like you tell me which songs should have been and which shouldnt, or if you agree with my selection.
Track Listing 1.True Faith 2.Jetstream 3.Sink Or Swim 4.BLT 5.World 6.Crystal 7.Regret 8.Love Vigilantes 9.Krafty 10.The Perfect Kiss 11.Shellshock 12.Temptation 13.Blue Monday 14.Subculture 15.Thieves Like Us

No Jetstream, replace with Turn or WFTSC. Something off 1st Electronic instead of Sink or Swim. Sunrise, Procession, Vanishing Point. (but it's your best of, so put whatever you like best really)

As Jul says, it’s your Best of, so you should put whatever you like. However, are you familiar with all of New Order’s songs? You have a lot of songs from singles collections, so maybe you’re not familiar with all of their albums. I don’t see anything from Technique (or Movement), for instance. Based on your selection, it seems that you prefer the dance oriented New Order tracks. I’d then recommend checking out Fine Time, Here to Stay, Run, Round & Round, and Vanishing Point, to name a few. As far as which songs from your list to dump, I’d say dump your least favorite. Our opinions don’t matter there. Personally, Sink or Swim, Jetstream, and Crystal are my least favorites from your list, but I even like those ones a lot. Edited by user 20 September 2012 05:43:56(UTC)

Well, the most glaring observation is that Sink or Swim isn't a New Order song so shouldn't really be on there. You may as well go the whole hog and start chucking in tracks by the other side projects. Aside from that, agree with Shellshocker, it's all personal preference. Of course that, as time passed, I discovered other songs. The only studio album I ve bought so far is WFTSC but I heard at least one song form each album. I ve had dowloaded as many songs that I when I had the time could but, of course, I ve a lot to discover yet. Of course I ve heard Here To Stay, Run and R And R and I really like them but I ve never heard VP. As far as Fine Time goes, its my least favourite single.

You actually have a pretty good collection of "singles" there. As many folks have already pointed out, it's your collection, so put on it what you like...That being said...I was going to say that it looks like you lean a bit more toward later period New Order. However on a second look maybe not. I would have to add Ceremony somewhere...

Come to think of it, they might use your list for this years Best Of collection, which I expect they'll announce any day now...

Like it.
Perhaps replace tracks 2&3 with "Twist of Fate" and "Black Rain".

Still, you might want to check out Technique, and maybe you'd like Republic. I do, though I know that it is the least favorite album for many New Order fans.

As I mentioned on a similar thread on this forum, please have a listen to Substance, preferably on cassette. Then have another listen to Waiting For The Sirens' Call. And hope for more Morning, Night and Day, Guilt Is A Useless Emotion and Who's Joe?. Vanishing Point is the one monster on Technique, and why it wasn't the first single from the 1989 album puzzles us all - what would have happened to Factory is awful to contemplate... |

Here in Montevideo you can't find any NO albums other than greatest hits ones and I don't have an international credit card, which is required to buy it from Amazon. I've seen PC&L and Brotherhood in vinil but I don't have a turntable. I've downloaded as many songs from Technique as I could. This are Run, Round and Round, Love Less, All The Way and Fine Time. I haven't found the other songs yet.
