Although it's disappointing that they're sticking with a Joy Division encore, at least there were a couple of surprises. And there should be at least another track or two in the bag to be revealed over the next few gigs. Edit: And 19 songs is as much as you could hope for. Edited by user 21 September 2023 12:55:28(UTC)

Unfortunately, it's basically the lesser cousin of "Guilt is a Useless Emotion". It's downright bizarre! I remember even Bernard saying he couldn't get excited about the release of Lost Sirens. And I kinda agree(d) with him. He must have had some say (or a big say) in chucking this one into the pot of songs. God knows why; it's bland as hell. I can't remember ever seeing/hearing any NO fan ever saying: "please play Shake It Up". In theory it's good that they're keeping an open mind, but hmmm, quality control?? I wonder if the venue/promotor asked them beforehand to play a crap song so that everyone would go to the bar during the gig and spend some money... Edited by user 21 September 2023 14:51:47(UTC)

I think it would work well live and, as a bonus, it's actually from the current lineup.

They had a brief spell of playing I'll Stay With you from Lost Sirens in 2013 and Californian Grass in 2014 too The live footage of them doing Shake it Up last night seems like Tom has ditched Hooky's bass part completely and is playing something that isn't on the record. Which suggests that they have put at least some amount of effort into a new arreangement

All summer to come up with something new for these highly priced gigs and this is what they do. Embarrassing. And they wonder why ticket sales are so slow.

If they want to try previously never performed songs from Lost Sirens why not give I've Got A Feeling a shot? That was an at least half decent tune.

On the one hand, I think it's great that they have tried a 'new' song out in a live environment. Bravo!
On the other hand, Shake It Up. Nah. Why the Hell would they pick a track from, lets be brutally honest here, an album of rejected songs?
What the flipping heck is wrong with 'Everything's Gone Green'? Do they hate it that much that they think 'Shake It Up' is better? Dear me...
You know, I can kind of see why they might want to play (the fairly bland) 'Be A Rebel'. It's relatively new (if you class anything from the eight-years old 'Music Complete' sessions as new). Plus, it's a song that features Tom and the post-Hook line-up.
But 'Shake It Up'? It doesn't have that advantage. Instead, it's a dull track from an LP comprised of stuff not deemed worthy of including on one of the band's worst LPs.
New Order - resurrect old songs. Please. Just make it worth your/our while and pick something that will get fans excited to go and see the band again. EGG and Thieves Like Us will do that. How about Hurt too?

One positive thing I'd note about this set is that nearly every album is represented (though I don't personally count Lost Sirens as an album). Only Movement and Get Ready were neglected. Early reports are that "Crystal" has kicked off the following show in Amsterdam...

I was Lucky enough to go to this with my daughter and like Bernard said at the gig what a wonderful city. Would be very easy to live there. Being in a different country made this special for me as was sharing the experience with my daughter. There were mistakes, and yes similar set lists with a few surprises. I don’t anyone in the whole world would have guessed shake it up! Looking at the Amsterdam set list they are mixing it up a bit. I spoke to lots of Danish people and also German. It makes you understand why at this time in their career certain highlights have to be played (BM, TF, LWTUA, TEMPTATION, BLT etc). Most people I spoken haven’t seen new order live for 20 years so was special for them to hear the classics. Not everyone can go at least once to every tour. I was told last time NO played Denmark that was not a festival was back in1986 so there was a lot of excitement them visiting for a full set. I spoke to no one who had seen them more than twice despite being long term fans, I.e all 50 plus in age. Got to say transmission sounded immense on the night, most I e enjoyed a JD track in a new order set for a long time. Isolation suits a NO set but not the most fluid of versions At last seen new order in a different country and what a great city to experience it in, a Viking place no less Edited by user 24 September 2023 03:28:40(UTC)

Sounds like you had a great time! Fab! I still have never seen the band outside of the UK
Despite my criticism of playing Shake It Up, i do think the setlist for Copenhagen looked particularly good. A nice mix of 'the hits', plus fan favourites that don't always make it into the line-up (Ceremony, Age of Consent and 1963).
Although I've seen the band multiple times, they never seem to play Age of Consent and 1963 when I'm in attendance. Every time I attend, they drop those tracks. Same with 5-8-6. When I attend, they don't play it. Very annoying as I'd love to see those tracks played live.
