Well I've been accused of using the NO Spotting thread too much in the past. So here's a fresh thread for this little thing.

Stephen Morris from New Order lays down a 30 minute ICONS mix

We did of course have a half hour mix from Stephen back in January 2023 as per this:

Yello: Oh Yeah
Liaisons Dangereuses: Los Niños Del Parque
Kraftwerk: The Telephone Call
Scritti Politti: Wood Beez (Pray Like Aretha Franklin)
The Rake: Street Justice
Sylvester: Rock The Box

And this

Will it be the same sort of stuff again. or something completely different? He's not limited to the '80s for this one. Maybe we'll get some Can and some Bowie this time around?

I see it's broadcast the day after the Election here in the UK. Do you think he'll include Things Can Only Get Better?

Well that was certainly different from last year's 1980's synth/new wave mix. Lots of 21st century electronic/dance stuff, although clearly a couple of oldies too...
Vocals from both Stephen's wife and his daughter in this one.

BBC tracklist:

1) Andrea Parker: Too Good to be Strange
2) OnDaMiKe: Lectro Bass
3) Braxton & Because of Art: Between the Stars
4) John Summit: Eat the Bass
5) Snilloc: Tripless
6) ZHU: Risky Business
7) Pet Shop Boys: Axis (Boys Noize Remix)
8) Gabe Gurnsey: Push
9) Terr: Only for Tonight
10) New Order: Bizarre Love Triangle (Richard X Remix)
11) The Other Two: Selfish (That Pop Remix)
12) Technasia & Green Velvet: Suga
13) The Temper Trap: Sweet Disposition (John Summit and Silver Panda Remix)

This was a pretty decent mix. I don't normally enjoy this sort of thing, but I liked it. Very nicely done and some decent tunes.

Some of the mixing is really nicely done - seamless. Some proper thought has been put into the sequencing and mixing of this. I wonder if Stephen got Gabe Gurnsey involved.

Slightly Off Topic:
Gabe has had an interesting time with NO and the Morrises.

First he and Factory Floor wrote to Steve asking him to musically collaborate with them. Which Stephen did.
Then Gabe became friends with Stephen and started messing around with those military vehicles.
Then he started dating Steve's daughter.

I only know this because it's in the public domain via interviews with Mssrs Gurnsey & Morris.
Is it my busness? No not really but I didn't go snooping!
Hope Gabe never falls out with any of the Morrrises. Could be awkward.

That's a great set! I love that he included BLT and TO2.

Do you get the sense that BLT may be the band's favorite song they ever wrote? It's either that or Your Silent Face.

This sounds pretty similar to the OT2's DJ set at the recent Sea Fever gig in Macclesfield, defo played 8,10 & 11. Their daughters were dancing in the audience as well as Gillian's sister. It was a great set and night!
