According to the announcement of the show on their official website, “Thursday 22nd August 2024 will see New Order return to Cardiff for a very special show, their first in the city since 1983, and their first show in Wales since they played in Swansea in 1985.” Actually the group performed as the Sunday headliner at Festival No.6 2012, the first year of the now defunct music festival (the last in 2018) in Portmeirion, the quirky village in North Wales used for the location of The Prisoner, the cult TV drama of the 1960s (“I am not a number! I am a free man!”). I was there.
And I’m in Cardiff now.

Wow. Just read of the cancellation. Sorry to hear for you ticketholders.
I've never had a New Order gig cancelled on me. Electronic and Bad Lieutenant, yes. But not N.O.

Yes commiserations Japanese One. I hope you didn't make the trip from Japan just for this gig. It's pretty unusual for the weather to be this windy in August in the UK so it's really bad luck. Or it's climate change. One of those.

Gutted. Just got back from Cardiff. 400 mile trip for nothing. Found out too late to cancel hotel. Weather didn’t seem that bad to me at 4pm. Not all of us are glued to social media to keep checking gig is on.

Shit happens. But where is a storm anyway? I stayed in Cardiff Bay until about 8:30 and then left there by train — there was no rain, just stronger-than-average wind blowing over the harbour area. I’d rather wish a storm had come, justifying the cancelation. Storm Lilian? I’d rather see Storm Gillian! https://www.walesonline....-29787863?int_source=nbahttps://www.walesonline....9792339#comments-wrapperEdited by user 24 August 2024 05:41:14(UTC)
