This and the Cardiff gig a long way off so i'm assuming they're gonna knuckle down and record some new songs in the meantime, right? Right?

Hmmm, probably 6 months off after a back-breaking world tour, then remix a song from Lost Sirens for the next live dates (hopefully a farewell tour but I doubt it).

Maybe they'll spend the precious 9 months rehearsing Working Overtime for its eagerly awaited and long overdue live debut. Gotta be worth the entrance fee alone to witness that eh?

Not long to this now
But i must admit i've completely changed my tune from my above post....i really cannot be bothered to go,never felt like this about a new order gig before
Do i need the hassle of getting to wythenshawe and back to stand in a field and no doubt hear the same set,joy division encore and probably look at the same visuals that they've more or less had since music complete came out

I LOVE the band (obviously) and always enjoy the gigs when I go, but they really need to start dropping some 'new' songs into the set. At the moment, as I live quite some distance from the bigger venues (relatively, for the UK at least), it's a pain to go and see them (accommodation, travel costs/time etc.). Until they start to add some songs that haven't been played in recent years, I just don't think it's worth it for me. Shame. If they just dropped in a couple of classic numbers like EGG and TLU, I'd go and see them next tour. Edited by user 19 August 2024 09:56:58(UTC)

Well even though I live a lot closer to Manchester I’ve opted for Cardiff for the simple reason I have never been before. So a change in city even if set is the same! My daughter really into NO now so has persuaded me to go. They are my favourite band so not too much of a problem but admit it’s the most I’ve felt meh about going. Sometimes that can be the best way. I can relax and enjoy the classics with hopefully a new song although unlikely if not old songs not played for a while would be good too. As they have brotherhood to promote a couple of tracks not normally played alongside BLT. Personally I would like Weirdo and AIIWIW. One of those is a possibility the other about as likely as Movement being played in full. Edited by user 19 August 2024 13:17:07(UTC)

It was even a mainstay during the Republic-era gigs, which I was surprised by at the time. I think Bernard is fond of it.

Good call on the Brotherhood release, most likely AIIWIW as you say - can't see them playing Weirdo of Way of Life, not played since 1987!! Still think Round & round would be great to bring back, just been listening to Reading'93 and sounds great, surprised it hasn't an update / rework. I'm aiming to go to Wythenshawe, just leaving it late to get the tickets.

Half price tickets, supposedly for people who were going to Cardiff but worked for me fine for anyone wondering whether to "press the button" on going or not! https://www.ticketmaster...314420_3708917_8/23/2024

Tempted but hotels in and around Manchester are quite expensive this weekend.
Changed the train at Manc Piccadilly Station, of all places, just before and heading back home now (I live in the UK fortunately).
Let’s believe there will be more gigs if not imminently. Mind you, Mick ‘n Keef have finished yet another North American tour at the ripe age of 80!

Same old order, basically. One song live debut is not enough to save the day IMHO.
Feeling somewhat relieved that I couldn’t make it to Manc TBHWY.
And it could have been the setlist for the cancelled Cardiff show.

I had tickets but sadly couldn't attend due to the logistics of how my year is turning out. I found solace in archive live footage and interviews on YouTube plus a beer or two. I hope everyone who did attend had fun.
Like many, I suspected the set list would be nothing new so while I am sad I missed the pre-gig drinks with FAC383, I'm not exactly feeling like I've missed an occasion like Apollo '98 (which I also missed, and felt crap because of it).
I was wrong in thinking that given the recent reissue they might unleash a "legacy" track or two off Substance (I.e. E.G.G. or Confusion) or perhaps even resurrect Shellshock a'la MiF from 2017.
My other hope - and I assume many others' too - was these gigs would coincide with some sort of new material or a surprise "key track" pointing to something resembling a new release.
The days of "Drop The Guitar" seem like a very long time ago and simultaneously yesterday. I remember thinking at the time; good for them taking a risk by playing something unreleased but the approach apparently wasn't to last.
Since 2015 most of their contemporaries have released swathes of new material; James have done 4 (!) full albums, Johnny Marr 2, and Pet Shop Boys 3.
There's got to be something left in the tank? I remain hopeful for 2025.

I'm pretty sure it's the original Dawn & Denise (RIP) vox, but they sound kinda low in the mix, so it loses something there.

I couldn’t make Manchester either. I’m sure it was great if you attended but like everyone else after almost 12 months off we only get one live debut the rest is all tried and tested. I would have still loved the first half of the gig and temptation at the end. The encore well…… I like transmission live but if you want JD Hooky is a much better bet. For me that was the last chance for any new material, hope I’m wrong. I’m sure they’ve tried but the bar is so high maybe they think best left alone and just celebrate their legacy. Can’t believe no Brotherhood tracks apart from BLT. For die hard fans who love the back catalogue in smaller venues then Hooky is the place…..

Want to make clear new order reforming in 2011 right up until and including London Ally Pally gigs some of my favourite I’ve seen the band. It’s just since then they’ve stopped taking chances, no new material no old tracks not played for a long time resurrected. (Apart from shake it up….but cmon never spoke to a NO fan who likes this track. Best I’ve heard is ‘there’s a good song buried somewhere in there’) Before we still got new versions, b sides such as Lonesome tonight, new tracks etc.. new back drops etc. However I have to remember their age, an amazing run of decades of music making gig going etc. another year I’ll definitely be ready to see them live again for one last goodbye

Aah - my favourite track from MC, and I was holding a 9 year grudge that they didn't ever play it live, so I was pleased to see it finally get an airing. I think they did a pretty good job, but live backing vocals would have made a big difference And now crucially, this means that Unlearn This Hatred is the only song from MC that hasn't been played live...

After being in 2 minds all week i decided to go yesterday
All in all i enjoyed their set...not sure why they'd start with academic or play nothing but a fool though
Quite amazing that with their back catalogue they decide on them 2...i was convinced they was going to play egg after the teaser on their twitter yesterday
I thought the support acts were pretty poor for new order they normally have a better line up at their big outdoor gigs imo
Strange venue too....if you wanted to watch from the front of the stage i was jam packed...huge queues for food and drink etc...yet there was another huge area to watch from side right that was accessible by walking right around the back of the venue
We watched from the front of that bit and the atmosphere was as flat as a fart around us but looked good in the other side
Left after temptation as i don't really like jd(sorry) so thought we'd skip it and not have to queue forever to get the tram back to our hotel

If I was there I would have been pleased with Academic, works well as intro and nothing but a fool as both really good MC tracks. EGG would have lifted the roof off. Edited by user 25 August 2024 11:44:10(UTC)
