GET READY // UK DATES // APRIL 2025 “Get Ready was a honeymoon record. Looking back now it was very enjoyable to make, and I think is massively underrated. It did sort the wheat from the chaff and led to a New Order mk2 which played better but had lost a naivety whilst gaining a maturity. Barney and I became a ‘power couple’ in Manchester during the making of the record but, sadly, the old problems recurred when we came to play live. The writing was on the wall from then on. The two of us worked very hard to make this a great record and I think we succeeded. I am looking forward to playing all the tracks, many of which have never been played live before. The Light will shine through … Get Ready!” PETER HOOK PETER HOOK & THE LIGHT have announced three UK dates for April next year where they will perform the New Order album Get Ready in its entirety, alongside a selection of the most seminal tracks from the rich back catalogues of both Joy Division and New Order. The dates will see the band play the Manchester O2 Victoria Warehouse, their biggest headline show to date in Manchester and their first in the city for two years; the London Troxy, their first date in the capital since October 2023; and the Bristol Marble Factory. APRIL 2025 Thu 17 BRISTOL Marble Factory Fri 18 LONDON Troxy Sat 19 MANCHESTER O2 Victoria Warehouse |

Just seen this plugged on the Official New Order Facebook page - which surprised me slightly! In amongst the promo for the Brotherhood box and the Atmos mixes https://www.facebook.com...WfMuee4V4h2GrSSA5f9xRxFlIs this a pre-existing mutual promo truce, or has something changed (in my defence I haven't been paying especially close attention)

But over the years I've seen it suggested that this could be in the terms of their court settlement.

Highly likely, I would suspect. Putting legal matters and one's own personal opinions of the bitter fall-out, I think it's only right that a website/Facebook page called 'New Order' should help to promote Mr Hook's current ventures. After all, he put in a significant amount of work building the NO brand. Despite him not being in the band at present, they do owe him some promotion. And likewise, him touring the albums etc. helps to keep them in the public's conscious and acts as promotion in and of itself.

I'm sure some of you remember around the time of the settlement, Hooky started replying to people on social meda with comments like, "you can see both if you like" - referring to NO live as well as PH & The Light live.
But my memory is that NO were already posting about PH&TL gigs on their Facebook for some time prior to the settlement. I tried briefly searching the forum for 'evidence', but, ugh it's not worth it!
My hunch then - as now- is that NO would prefer Mr Hook to be off being busy rather than sitting around holding grudges against them.
Speaking of relations between the two camps, I note that Hooky has TWO facebook pages. Once for PH&TL and one just called Peter Hook. The posts seem pretty much identical (both about the Light gigs) as far as I can see, so I don't know why he has two pages.
Anyway, on his "Peter Hook" page someone responded to one of his posts recently asking something about relations with NO, and Hooky replied "I'm as happy as I've ever been". Well fair enough; good for him. It seems Hooky is happy to be his own boss (he literally calls himself THE BOSS AT PETER HOOK & THE LIGHT on his Peter Hook page), and NO seem to be happy playing live (and...making music?) without him.
It's too bad most of the "it isn't NO without Hooky" brigade probably didn't see his reply. They still pop up from time to time, and I wonder who they're making their point to. Fellow fans -who had no say in the decision to split? The current line up of NO, who probably aren't reading? At this point I get a feeling of "old man shouts at cloud" about it.
I think we have to accept that both camps are happy. So with perhaps the (tiny) possibilty of a bite-your-tongue reunion for a farewell NO gig/tour, we have to accept that since the settlement, everyone is happy...except some of the fans.

I'd love to think they're all in a good place. Outside of family and close friends, these people have made more of an impact on my life than I can measure. I hope they're all looking forward to a well-earned retirement But let's get another LP first eh? A one-off reunion too? Unlikely, but a man can (still) dream.

Went to see him in York last night, he opened with KW1 which was completely unexpected and made me rather emotional. Seen New Order more times than I can remember including twice at the O2 and Halifax over the last few years. I never thought I would say this but I think I actually prefer Hooky's gigs nowadays. Looking forward to Victoria Warehouse now!

I'm in Cambridge this evening to go along to the gig at the Junction 1 venue. Took a stroll down to get my bearings earlier. Venue is 5 mins walk from my accomadation. Its actually a way a bit from Cambridge city centre. I did see Hooky & The Light once before , way back in 2012 in Birmingham but just hadn't been inclined to see them again since then . But, just thought i'd give it a shot again and bought a ticket for tonight. Not sure what the capacity of Junction 1 is but its apparently sold out for tonight. It's a miserable rainy night here in Cambridge but hopefully it'll be a great gig.

Well it was ok. But the venue was 'orrible. Layout and position of the bars was awful. Packed out and difficult to get a decent view. Of the Get Ready set, surprisingly Run Wild was the highlight.Short break then a JD and NO greatest hits set. Hooky said a tribute to Mani before Atmosphere.NO classics like Ceremony and Everything's Gone Green went down better than the Get Ready set .Love Will Tear Us Apart to finish. Hooky to his credit is a bit more crooner for the most part now, not so much shouty growl all the time though he does lapse into that still a lot and the flailing arm. Dave Potts did a lot of vocals. Just think i preferred Hooky in the early NO days when he was silent vocally and played with his back to the audience ( from what i saw on vid, not actually witnessed)

Went to the Cambridge gig too, and I agree, Run Wild was great, as was Primitive Notion. Good to see Jack back in the band too.
Fotz - can you fill in the gaps for the set, I know I'm missing some.
JD - No love lost / Warsaw / Means to an end / Disorder / Isolation / Digital / H&S / Atmosphere / Transmission NO - Lonesome tonight / Sunrise / EGG / Ceremony / TPK
I went to Cabs at the ICA the night before. The last time I saw Cabs followed by NO was on the summer 84 tour when CV played in Bournemouth and Hooky showed up, NO played in Portsmouth a couple of days later.

^Ah great to hear you were at the Cambridge gig, Daws. You weren't the guy at the back by the merchandise desk ,singing along to your girlfriend the lyrics to Run Wild were you? Well they did Brutal and Here To Stay at the end of the Get Ready set but no, i can't recall other songs you didn't list, sorry! I had a nice Sunday morning looking around Cambridge. Well there was no entry allowed but i had a peep from where visitors can view of places like Corpus Christi, King's College, Trinity College etc and the historical streets. A nice weekend away. Checking setlist.fm they did What Do You Want From Me? I do remember that now but , er, that's a Monaco song not a JD or NO one. And also True Faith though i do not recall it.

It's all coming back to me now! You're right about the Monaco track, got a really good reception too.
For some reason when I go on setlist it shows 7 Nov in Frome Cheese & Grain as the last gig listed, and nothing after that.
Was TPK the last song of the main set?

IMO bass players should not be singers (unless they're Mark King, Geddy Lee, or Paul McCartney). When I used to see NO mid-80s, PH was always on the mic every second song, talking nonsense - me me me etc. I've been listening to Movement a bit recently and enjoying it apart from the two songs PH 'sings' on. Sacre Blue Tin Tin!

^ Lolz At one point Hooky was rambling on something about being bezzie mates with Leo Dicaprio. Whatevs , Peter. Still, have to admire his creativity for the number of different arm flailing he can do in one gig. Or even during one song.
