I presume their record label would be awaiting the outcome of the legal situation before getting enthused about releasing new music by NO but that wouldn't prevent Bernard and co laying the ground work for the next album and maybe even debuting a new song or two if they perform live in 2013...

A lot of wishful thinking in this thread, no? I'd bet my butt nothing before 2016. Let's just hope we get the Sirens stuff to bide us over in the meantime - or even snippets from BL / O2 / Stu Price...? God knows!

... But you're probably right, at this point those projects could well morph into NO - as I mused ages ago.

I actually quite liked the Calvin/Rhianna "We Found Love" collab, in a Guilty Pleasures sort of way. But the idea of Calvin working on a NO album...well I think they should do their own separate things. Complete agree with you there Debaser... not owning an album by either artist. Perhaps I should have said Billy Corgan to be even more devisive, oh no, that's already been done

Great, another thread advising musicians what is and is not acceptable for them to do.
Maybe they could all just do what they want and each one of us can choose whether to buy/bootleg like/dislike attend/stay as they see fit.
Or is someone going to tell me I can't do that, now? |

Or is someone going to tell me I can't do that, now? are you the sort who gets intimidated by anonymous music fans discussing things on forums? its a nice tactic for some people defending tribute bands to claim victimhood because of those bad boys and girls but the same people would prefer to silence the obvious ridicule and contempt the vast majority of fans have for tribute bands, lack of creativity or shamelessly cashing in.

YAY!
Sod the record company - Just set up your own label and sell it online; lower overheads and improved profits... although you do have to employ a team of internet sniffer dogs to take down links to your hard earned copyrighted ripped material. |

I don't know what makes you think I feel intimidated by anything. I'm just amused by some of the points of view on offer here. I doubt it's the vast majority of anyone; just a small number of people who post the same thing over and over. I've been watching it for years. People who disagree tend to be crowded out. Lose interest. Leave it to the hysterical few to argue it out about how unfair the world is. The anonymity is most telling. You occasionally see them at gigs. Skulking around looking miserable and whispering that it's not as good as it used to be. Mostly they stay at home. Shamelessly cashing in. Beautiful. Edited by user 24 September 2012 22:30:14(UTC)

What makes you think that? But I suppose with your screenname based on the JD song and that kind of attitude...maybe you don't care about New Order. Edited by user 25 September 2012 18:22:17(UTC)

Beautiful. well what makes me think that is because you seemingly are concerned at people telling you what you can and cant do. I could say the people who defend hooky's greed and nostalgia etc are a small number of people, hysterical people and so on but ive yet to see anyone defend him apart from saying they'd like to see those old songs being played. and they'd say the same if re order did what hooky is doing and at least they have to dignity to not to claim its for artistic reasons. You must have a sixth sense for spotting them at gigs, i suppose they are the ones who dont fill hookys wallet. Yes shamelessly cashing in, no difference to kajagoogoo or howard jones nostalgia tours, hooky will probably get a wig of his hair circa 1987.

You're on the wrong thread, love.
This one is about what the rest of the band is allowed to do.
Hooky's career committee have a thread to themselves (although surprise surprise that's mostly you as well).
There isn't a thread for me yet. |

If it's truly a collaborative effort between the five of them, I have a feeling it couldn't be anything other than fantastic. Have them produce it themselves, have it truly be their record.
Hell, have Steve do another 'Procession' and make him write the lyrics, or throw Gillian on backup vocals instead of outsourcing it to some session diva. It'd be really interesting to see what Tom throws into the mix, as it would be his time to really shine creatively.

Agree with you, the influence of Tom as the younger member may lead to something thats really good
