I heard about this compilation via this post on the Pet Shop Boys Community forum: "EMMI AID is a compilation by the initiative EMMAUSWALD BLEIBT!
57 musicians and bands have contributed original or previously unreleased songs to support the Emmauswald, which is threatened by deforestation — a musical wake-up call to save Berlin-Neukölln’s largest woodland."It features what I assume is a new song from Barny, although the artist is inexplicably stated as "Bernard Sumner, Joy Division, New Order", which would obviously be quite a staggering achievement! It's called 'Emmy', and to be honest sounds like Barney dug out an unused two-minute Bad Lieutenant demo: Juno Download | SpotifyAnyone know anything about this track? I've not heard of it before. Thanks for this. Hadn't heard of it before.
Wow - I think 'demo' is being kind to it. Crikey. Certainly sounds like something from the 00s. Very non-typical guitar from Bernard though. Weird.

wow what a disappointment, you would think that after all these years of not making any music he would take time and make a good song, how hard can it be from him they are legends when it comes to music, if he made a good song imagine how happy the fans would be, Seriously you cant make this stuff up anymore, Maybe they just gave up being creative and making new music |

I suspect it's something rough from several years ago he found on the shelf

But the song title Emmy and lyric "let's hear it for Emmy" suggests it was written for this "Emmi Aid" compilation?
It's almost got a Warsaw feel to it, but yeah - that doesn't make it good
As for the Artist credit being Bernard Sumner, New Order, Joy Division - I feel like that's been done as a way to maximise engagement on Spotify By listing it under the three separate artists, it will appear in each one's catalogue. More chance of NO/JD fans stumbling upon it
That said - it's a weird concept to have a charity album on Spotify -because it will raise £0.000001 in streaming revenue

Pretty harsh commentary.
I suspect he feels strongly about the cause and wanted to contribute to the charity album. He probably recorded it fairly quickly in his home studio like he would any demo in recent years. But obviously no other members were involved to work it into something they would properly record and release.
Yes, it's not the most inspiring track, but I downloaded it to hear the full thing so it's serving its purpose to generate awareness and money. Do people think he's sitting on another "Temptation"? And if he was, would he toss it out on a charity compilation?

To be honest even though it's for a good cause it was all very forgettable. If anything Bernards track stood out.

For a song to be given to charity that is not an old one I think it’s actually not bad at all. NO have been very quiet recently so maybe, just maybe and it’s only a maybe something new may appear. I’m expecting a few summer dates next year. Not seen them for a couple of years after they cancelled the Welsh gig so looking forward to seeing them live again soon, could be the last time, oh it’s the last time.
