Four days ago Mani was thanking people for their birthday wishes on Facebook. Two days ago he was marking the second anniversary of his wife, Imelda's passing.
Today it was announced that Mani has died of a seizure at home.

I'm probably posting this in the wrong section but hey, Mani was important.

Saw this guy so many times during his Primal Scream years. It wasn't the same after he left. Pleased that I saw the Roses at Finsbury Park during the 'reform' years. They may have done it for the ticket money, but damn they were good anyway.

Hooky is sadly, the only living member of Freebass now [EDIT: Of the three bass players].

Way too soon. RIP Mani. He was Manchester through and through. Never saw him or the Roses live, to my eternal regret. A true great gone.

I had to go check that Gary Briggs was still alive!

I know what you meant though - of the 3 (free...) bassists, only Hooky remains. I don't think many of us would have had money on Hooky being the last bassist standing out of those 3.

Thanks for that link, Debaser. Good to read. I went to the gig in Cambridge on Saturday night and before Atmosphere Hooky talked about Mani, how it'd been a really hard few days and how the outpouring of love for Mani had been incredible.
