Thanks but yes, there seems to be a few more than capable people on Reddit ( by what they said) keen to take over the running of this place and say they have tried to contact Nic but have had no response, sadly. Why hasn't Nic responded to them?

Well i actually vote Steve Hoffman forum. Been a member on there for a couple years now and as i said, there's some knowledgeable NO/JD folks on the NO/JD ongoing threads.


As it stands, it's nearly the end for this place. For since forever it's been a great place for disc4ussion, info and laffs. Best wishes to all.Thanks to Nic, Johnny James and all the old and current members .

made a wget archive of the forum..
about 30,000+ pages ..

i havent checked all the links, but the most recent posts works,
images, and links should work..

file size is 21 MB zipped, expands to 2 Gigs....
all you have to do is drop the .html files into a browser. there is an index file,
or try default.aspx@g=forum.html , any of those should work..

links that dont work, will point back to the web (until the site goes down).

I did something similar to make an offline mirror of the website, using HTTRACK. It took well over 24 hours and is about twice the size of your download, so maybe it included some additional stuff? But anyway, if and when the site goes down, I can host the mirror as a static online archive, then if someone wanted to start a new forum, at least the old forum is still visible to check previous discussions. I'm just conscious of how many times we see the phrase "I think that was discussed before..."

I am grateful to Nic for this forum over the years. I didn't start posting until around '05 as I didn't have the internet - so I'd lurk whilst at work. Nonetheless that's 20+ years of NOOL for me and that's pretty good.
I'm also a little bit sad that Nic hasn't responded to any PM's. But of course that's Nic's choice and I wish him well for the future.
FWIW, I did manage to contact Nic on FB back in the spring to let him know that someone (not me) was showing an interest in "the keys", and he said he would respond to them. But I'm not aware of anything since.

We know that Bernard has talked about being ready to go and make more music and that he intimated that it was down to others that it hadn't started yet.
If there is to be one more "oeuvre" from the mighty NO, it would be nice to still have the forum. Indeed it would be nice if someone from NO would chuck a few quid at the thing. They could easily afford to, i imagine.

Now then...
A YouTuber put together an edit of the full length vocal mix of Here To Stay and the Extended instrumental from Retro Disc 3, and I think he did a good job.
I always felt that the original full length wasn't as long or as complete as it could have been.
The forum may not be here to stay, but the music of NO always will be for me [*touches heart*]. Feel free to puke if you're a "football hooligan" fan, or shed a tear if you're a "spotty student" fan.

Thanks all. Despite little band activity, I was still checking in here daily.

I first found the New Order online community in 1997 with the Ceremony mailing list.

If anyone is looking for the Recycle files, you can download them here (plus a few other surprises). Most of my website is down at the moment while I restructure it. The three megamixes I did in 2006-2007 will be re-uploaded there.
