Very interersting article. I know it's not new and sorry if it's been posted before. Do you agreee or disagree with this list?

That's a surprisingly good fifteen - I was expecting Blue Monday and True Faith vying for top spot.

Only one I looked at in the fifteen and though 'nah' was 1963, but that's probably from over-familiarity this year and the fact it's been a bit flat live. Otherwise someone's chosen very well here. Not my personal fifteen, but a strong fifteen nevertheless.

That lot would make a great gig!

I'm afraid - in this case - "Pop" is an abbreviation for "Poppycock". Evil

I also guess we're all entitled to an opinion... Black eye

I was digging the live videos links used for the tracks until they picked Ceremony from the Taras gig. Come on mate, there are much better performances of this song.

As for the list, there are so many to choose from, for me it depends on my mood. Why make a list? Then again maybe this article will spread the joy to those ears that have never been bless by the grace of New Order.

Not a bad list - would have thought True Faith would be higher, but thankfully no sign of Who's Joe? or Dracula's Castle Smile

What's wrong with Who's Joe? I love that song. It's one of the bests on WFTSC. I don't like Dracula's Castle that much but I don't think it's terrible either.

Sorry, I remember from your thread that you haven't got much of the stuff from the older albums. Who's Joe might be one of the best (in your opinion anyway) on WFTSC but it just sounds totally empty to me, like a test-run for Bad Lieutenant or an offcut from the second Electronic album.

Replace Round and Round with BLT, swap the positions of Ceremony and Temptation, and you've got yourself a pretty good 15 there... Smile

There's clearly no such thing as a 'Top X' as these things are obviously subjective.
(True Faith only #15 dammit?!?)

But that is a decent, well considered article. Thanks.

We should perhaps do a poll to determine NOOL's collective top 15 tracks...

I never understand why the 1987 version of Temptation is always criminally ignored and superceded by the original. Yes, the original is a masterpiece, but the 87 version is even better, and the one that they have played live for decades!
'Who's Joe' is one of my all-time fave tracks, along with 'Turn' they prove that the band were still making superb music right up until the end. They both easily sit alongside the 80s classics, no worries, but are never mentioned in lists like these..

I think both versions are great but I like the 82 version better as it was a transtional moment- the moment when they embraced synths-the moment when they really became New Order. Glad to know that you like both Who's Joe and Turn, too. They're really underrated-speciallly Who's Joe, which is not very popular among the fan base, I think. It's good to know I'm not alone.

Not a bad list although in my opinion songs such as Procession, lonesome Tonight and Everything`s Gone Green deserve to be up there.....
