Just a note to let you know that all the download links on Recycle and Extra Track will be deactivated on the same day, in the very near future. If you've not yet had a chance to grab the files, this is your notice:

Recycle

Extra Track (And A Tacky Badge)

While both blogs are effectively going dark, you're going to want to keep your eyes open at Recycle for a very special and long-promised surprise that will be posted before the end of the year and available for only one week.

Work will continue at The New Order Archives once a distribution/download model is determined.

Jeb

Would be so good to have these in lossless. I know there are reasons - and they STILL sound fabulous regardless - but it does seem a shame to go to such effort for them only to be heard by the majority of us in a compressed form.

Well I wonder if Mr Fifty would like to comment on the singles box set that Hooky recently said the record company were interested in doing...

All the links at Recycle still work. Mediafire can be finicky, especially if you're trying to download everything at once. Be patient - you've had 3 years. ;)

If a link doesn't work, clear your browser cache and try again later.

Can't help you with the Record Store Day 12", but it was downloaded many, many times, so someone here may be kind enough to forward it to you.

Too many opportunities for bootleggers.

FWIW, the AAC codec at 256k is virtually indistinguishable from lossless files to the human ear - that's why we used AAC and not MP3.

I call bullshit - I'll believe it when I see it. We all know Hook loves to run his mouth.

When the Joy Division singles were being posted, Hook was given lossless versions of our work. All of the sudden the +- box was announced with new mastering by Stephen Morris. Lost Sirens has been in the pipeline for over a year, and Hook is holding it up just to be a dick. I can't image all the parties involved would be able to coordinate and sign off on something as big as a comprehensive singles box. It would be cost-prohibitive for the label to do it with anywhere near the close attention to detail that we managed - they couldn't even properly name common remixes used in the 2xCD editions of the Factory albums, much less track down the rare material we sourced. There's NO ONE in the company who knows the material better than we do.

Then again, if the publishing/licensing issues have been negotiated to allow Lost Sirens, wouldn't that extend to everything recorded during Hooky's tenure?

Thanks for clarifying. I figured if it was a serious thought by the record company, they would have contacted you for the reason that you give: their NO knowledge ain't as good as yours. If they haven't contacted you (and they clearly haven't), it probably ain't gonna happen. I can't help thinking that if they did produce it as a limited edition with good packaging that there would be people who would shell out for it. But hey what do I know?
As I haven't thanked you before Jeb, thanks for your Recycle work. It has truly been a gift to us NO fans. I was somehow oblivious to the Smiths thing, I better get cracking!

I would also like to say thanks for all the work done on the Recycle project. I first heard New Order in 1987, and have been a follower ever since. This was the first time that I had heard many of the tracks ( I was 15 in 87, cassette tapes were king, and I didn't have a turntable).

If most record companies still put as much effort ( or even half the effort ) in producing product as you guys did, they'd be in better shape today.

Thinking about it, if Gary knows about this, then my above assumption that the record company haven't been in contact is surely mistaken. My guess is that it will be a sort of Recycle2 for the post-Factory years (to coincide with the release of Lost Sirens). Maybe those WFTSC single mixes being discussed on another thread will suddenly all become available...

A true gift to just a few NO fans so far.

It would be a beautiful christmas gift if there was a chance to download ALL these treasures ( Joy Division, The Smiths and New Order's properly remastered tracks ).
I miss these links when they were around the web, I just discovered some weeks ago the Recycles JD, NO & Smiths blogs.

So any chance to reactivate all the dead links ?
Sure, it's a hell of work.

Or maybe someone somewhere got already reactivated links ?
