Don't let the name (Boulevard Pool) fool you, it's not going to be the band playing in front of a bunch of people standing around in a pool, it's a legit venue. The Cosmo, since it opened, has been infamous for booking acts that have been a bit off the Vegas norm, especially on the Strip.
On another note, let me just say that I am so jacked about this show, it's driving me nuts. I grew up in the U.S. Midwest in the 80's. I liked a lot of music that simply wasn't played on the radio too often in those parts, and New Order wasn't exactly itching to play in Iowa while I was younger.
So to be here in Vegas (for probably 2-4 years only), and have this show fall into my lap...well...I'll put it this way. We have a trip to Hawaii planned for late March, and I'm more excited about seeing New Order on April 11th.
This concert is a "bucket list" thing for me. I know, Hooky isn't there anymore, but you know what, the show will go on, and I, for one, can't wait. I waited 30 years before seeing them for the first time last fall in Toronto. Now, I have my flights, concert tickets, and a weekend at the Cosmopolitan booked to see them again. Adding in the Vampire Weekend concert on Friday. If anyone can suggest after-show parties, clubs, where we can keep the vibe going (okay, a bunch of 40-50-somethings reliving the '80s,,,) that would be a great idea.
