I'd ditch five tracks off WFTSC, switch them with five Lost Sirens and use the "Left Overs" as BSides for singles (1 or two per single) Instead this would have been one cracking LP IMHO: 1. "Who's Joe?" 2. "Shake It Up" 3. "Waiting for the Sirens' Call" 4. "Krafty" 5. "I Told You So"... the remixed version is way better, so maybe replace this too? 6. "I'll Stay with You"7. "Sugarcane"8. "Californian Grass"9. "Guilt Is a Useless Emotion" 10. "Turn" 11. "Recoil"Would you do it differently? Edited by user 14 February 2013 23:31:52(UTC)

Tough choice
01 Who’s Joe? 02 Waiting for the Sirens‘ Call 03 Krafty 04 Sugarcane 05 Californian Grass
06 I’ll Stay With You 07 Hellbent 08 Guilt is a Useless Emotion 09 Shake it up 10 Turn
?
Jetstream should have never been on any album but a stand-alone single, maybe for some 80ies-inspired movie soundtrack.

Good thread. I was just thinking about this. But Id sacrifice 8 tracks from WFTSC. 1. I'll Stay With You 2. Hey Now What You Doing? 3. Shake It Up 4. Sugarcane 5. Turn 6. Californian Grass 7. Hellbent 8. I Got A Feeling 9. Recoil 10. Whos Joe? 11. I Told You So (later mix) Edited by user 15 February 2013 05:33:54(UTC)

Gazman wrote:Why have the three of you included 'Shake It Up'? Its dire and thats me being nice about it Well I love it. Its pure bouncy, pop bliss. In fact (aside from some extremely dodgy lyrics) this album has some of the best new order songwriting (IMO). As in song structures, key changes, bridges, etc.

title of album... Hey Now
Who's Joe Krafty Waiting for the Siren's Call California Grass Recoil Turn
Hellbent (Total Mix) I Told You So (original) Sugarcane Road to Ruin I Got A Feeling I'll Stay With You
Guilt would make a nice stand alone single track, to gather club play Working Overtime as a joke hidden track Shake It Up seems like it needed re-recorded with a different producer Jetstream, well produced but... maybe the lyrics could have used a major revision. Maybe a silly B-side. Dracula's and Morning Nite Day should have never seen the light of day...

Gazman wrote:Why have the three of you included 'Shake It Up'? Its dire and thats me being nice about it I have to admit it was a tough choice between this and Morning Night and Day and I Told You So. I wouldn't put "Shake it up" in the first half or release it as a single, but I like those grumpy, sinister songs on the second half of my New Order albums (Ultraviolence, Angel Dust, Times Change and Visit me), I think these kind of songs are underrated. Also, I really like the guitar freakout in the middle, unfortunately ít's much too short.

I love Darcula's Castle, it's a top tune These are the best tracks off both albums... 1. Who's Joe 2. Dracula's Castle 3. Krafty 4. WFTSC 5. Californian Grass 6. I'll Stay With You 7. Turn 8. I Told You So (both versions) 9. GIAUE I agree that 'Shake It Up' is complete pish.

I love Darcula's Castle, it's a top tune Yeah I like it too. Not their best but the synth stabs are pleasantly reminiscent of Technique, the bass is high in the mix (fuck Republic and Rest Of) and in classic Barnster mode the lyrics are both meaningless and heartfelt. Nice one.

Who's Joe? I'll Stay With You Waiting For The Siren's Call Sugarcane Krafty Californian Grass Dracula's Castle Shake It Up I've Got A Feeling Turn Recoil
I feel eleven tracks is a mite too long for a NO album, and I already got rid of 'Guilt', but I can't edit any more. And I LOVE 'dracula' and 'shake', which is why they are there, obviously! Best NO album since Technique..

Yes they should, otherwise Hooky'd do an interview every billisecond about some 'lost' tracks and we'd spill our hypotheses all over these forums for 8 years then finally hear 'em and say Ooooh not the New Order I love. DC's cool, MNAD ain't. PS Has this review been posted yet? http://www.avclub.com/ar...order-lost-sirens,91394/Edited by user 26 February 2013 01:20:37(UTC)

You can fit 12 songs on a Cd. Even the US and Japanese cd's have 12 songs, so My perfect Sirens Cd will have 12 songs:
1. Waiting for the Sirens Call 2. Turn 3. I'll Stay with You 4. Sugarcane 5. I've Got a Feeling 6. Krafty 7. Who's Joe? 8. Guilt Is A Useless Emotion 9. Californian Grass 10. Hey Now What You Doing 11. Shake it Up 12. Recoil
This could have been the best NO Cd ever.
Singles:
1. Sugarcane - B-side: I told you so, with I told you so mixes. 2. Krafty - B-side: Jetstream Demo version w/ no Female track. 3. Turn - B-side Working Overtime Demo version with added guitar intro & Hellbent 4. Guilt Is A Useless Emotion - B-side: Morning Night & Day & Dracula's Castle
As much as I love WFTSC and I'll stay with you. I just dont feel they would make good radio songs. Tracks 1-6 should be played live. Tracks 7-9 can can replace 1-6 for some odd shows. That would be my tour selections

Great work. Actually, if I could I'd replace GIAUE with it's Macqualye remix. And... if Jetjizz is actually very good when remixed and the LeConte or whatever his name was... remix was stonking; worthy of a track 13 even. :) |

When it comes to albums I'm into the whole brevity thing, so:
1. Krafty 2. WFTSC 3. I've Got a Feeling 4. Who's Joe 5. Hellbent 6. Jetstream 7. California Grass 8. I Told you So (Crazy World Mix)

Cool! Eight songs on one album, it's like the last 25 years never happened. But they did and we got the fall of the Berlin Wall, the rise of Barak Obama and Melanie C posing 'Naked' live. Isn't it amazing what they did with ITYS? One of the least popular trax transformed into a powerful wall of sound. My only objection to including it on the LP is it's so obviously a remix rather than a song they sat down to record, and you need to hear the original to appreciate what a goob job was done! Perverse logic I know, but the same goes for World Perfecto and Spooky Stadium.

Reunited in a Remix is the same..

Having now spent sometime listening to lost sirens its ok there's not a track that I dislike (unlike wftsc) but it lacks something... It's just to fluffy at times needs some darkness. The lyrics are too light and samey need to be more ambiguous like classic sumner. The tracks are not as strong as when wftsc hits the mark such as Krafty and turn. The best tracks on lost sirens are I,ll stay with you and hellbent.
My track list for w sirens
The 1st side is the same as wftsc but I woold replace I told you so with Stuart price mix. Make it a 12 track album with the last track as Californian grass.
Side b
I,ll stay with Draculas castle Recoil Hellbent Guilt is a useless emotion Turn
Release an ep named pop with the following Sugar cane I,ve got a feeling Jet stream

WTF is this Dracula's Castle even being included on any serious lists?
Might as well write a song about Dora the Explorer, or Big Bird from Sesame Street, or Spiderman. How about the next song be about BIG FOOT!
What a fuckin joke of a song.
The very notion of New Order naming a song after SCARY DRACULA and then mentioning the SCARY CASTLE in the lyrics is a travesty. Were they hoping Scooby Doo was going to do a new episode and pay them to use this in the end credits?
God, so easily their worst song idea EVER.

Unfortunate title and lyrical theme but the music is superb. Dracula also mentioned in the Electronic track "King for a Day". Perhaps Iggy Pops' "Funtime" influenced Sumner in this regard. Edited by user 09 March 2013 23:08:24(UTC)

The end of the track is superb, the chemistry between the guitars, keyboards, Hooky bass and the hyperactive drum patterns is pure New Order. I'd love to see said instrumental version... perhaps a future reissue will feature one. Just my take...

No need to be that angry ....the title is a bit strange, but I like the melody and some of the lyrics. It's not a masterpiece, but it's one of the songs I like on that album. And wasn't part of this song written when they were staying at some old castle-type building that was made into a recording studio (sorry my memory is hazy)? That would explain the 'dracula's castle' reference.

The lyrics are a bit strange but then again, Bernard's 'interesting' lyrics didn't start with Dracula's Castle, so I don't understand why people are acting like he just started doing that very recently. I don't think it's a masterpiece, but I do like it overall, and I like the ending part.
